I've been giving updates and asking for prayer about my baby great-nephew who sustained serious injuries at 4-6 weeks old (now 15 months doing great in my sister's care (his other great aunt) after a year recently my niece's partner was charged with reckless disregard for two of lesser injuries but police didn't have enough evidence to know who (my niece or her partner) caused the more serious and multiple head injuries occurring at least two separate times just days apart. Both baby's parents have mental health issues and especially my niece also behavior issues and we thought more she hurt the baby. She is trying to get sole custody of the baby and is waiting for a court date next year but I just found out she's trying to get unsupervised visits now & also her partner isn't allowed to see the baby because of bail conditions but can travel to where the baby's visits take place. My sister is completely defeated after talking to a lawyer, but we know God is bigger than any legal system! The right place for the baby right now is to remain in my sister's care because of both parents' behavior & they taking no responsibility or wanting to get help & are making things very difficult for my sister. Please pray God's hand in this situation, that the baby will stay protected in my sister's care and visits remain supervised also. Please uplift my sister in prayer also to give her strength and encourage her. Thanks for your ongoing prayer support.

We are truly saddened to hear about the situation involving your great-nephew and the custody battle. We will stand with you in prayer and offer some biblical encouragement and advice.

Firstly, we are thankful that you have been giving updates, unfortunately, this account of the parents does not align with biblical principles. This child was severely injured in the care of a boyfriend and girlfriend. This union is not a marriage ordained by God and therefore should be held to account. It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. Also, there is no other name by which we can be saved. IJN, we remain and pray equally for justice, grace, mercy, and salvation of all.

In cases where sin abounds, grace does much more abound. Therefore, as we pray, we also seek the salvation and repentance of the parents and partner. However this does not excuse their behavior and they must face justice and righteousness.

The Bible tells us that God is a father to the fatherless and a judge for the widows. He is a protector and a King. He grants justice to those who are oppressed and need His intervention. Deuteronomy 10:18 says He executes justice for the orphan and the widow, and He shows love toward the alien by giving him food and clothing.

We pray:

Father, we ask for your protection for our sister’s great-nephew. Protect him and guide all actions and decisions. Your word expresses your heart for children, especially children who are vulnerable and at risk. Please show baby grace and mercy.

Father, we ask that unsupervised visits will not be permitted and this precious child be protected from those who cause harm. Additionally, we pray for comfort and encouragement for our sister. Give her the strength and wisdom to navigate this challenging situation and to shine like stars in the universe.

We pray for the salvation of all who are involved. God hear our prayer in the name of Jesus Christ.

Father, we ask, if it is your will, this child will remain safe in our sister’s care and he and our sister be showered with your grace, mercy, and love. We pray that our sister will continue to shine her light.

Lastly, we pray for our sister’s encouragement and remind her of Matthew 11:28-29.
Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls.
