You are reaching out for something that I believe is far deeper than a change in circumstances. When we cry out for luck, we are often expressing a deep sense that things are not as they ought to be, and we long for some unseen force to turn our way. But the living God does not deal in luck, He offers a covenant of blessing that is certain and personal, sealed through faith in Jesus Christ.
I think of two brothers who illustrate this kind of longing. One was desperate for his father’s blessing. He wept and pleaded, but he never found what he was looking for. The issue was not the intensity of his tears; it was the state of his heart. He wanted the benefit without the transformation. He was sorry he had lost the prize, but he was not sorry for the scheming and earthly-minded living that led to the loss. There was no change within him, just an emotional reaction to his situation. True repentance is not only a sorrow over what has gone wrong; it is a turning around, a rending of the heart that produces a new way of living. God looks for that real evidence of change.
The other brother is the one who, in the end, received the greater blessing, not because he was better, for his own hands were full of deceit. He thought he could manipulate his way into favor. But God met him in his brokenness and gave him something unexpected: a new name and a new nature. The blessing was not merely a change in fortune; it was a change in identity. He went from being a self-made schemer to a man whose life would be governed by God. That is the richest blessing God offers any of us, to stop living by our own wits and strength and to begin yielding to His Spirit. When your life is ruled by Him, you are no longer carried by the whims of luck; you are held by the faithful purposes of a Father who knows exactly what you need.
This blessing is what God promised long ago to Abraham, and He extended it to everyone who would share Abraham’s faith. In Christ, you are brought into that same promise: “In blessing I will bless you.” It is not about earning something through sacrifice or religious effort. The law could only declare a curse on what we try to produce in the flesh. But through faith, the door is open to receive everything Jesus has made possible. The greatest security you can ever know is to be hidden in Him, like a child sheltered in a cleft of rock. That is your true safety, not the absence of hardship, but the presence of the One who is your defense.
So do not settle for a quick fix or a turn of events. Let this moment of desperation drive you to the heart of what God wants to do in you. Ask Him not merely to rearrange your circumstances but to transform your character. Seek the blessing that changes you from the inside out, making you a person who relies on His grace rather than your own ability. When He becomes your safety, you can face any storm with a steady trust. That is not luck; that is the inheritance of a child of God.
