We lift up this heavy burden before the Lord, knowing that His heart breaks for those trapped in sin, yet His mercy is boundless for all who turn to Him. The Scriptures are clear that homosexuality is an abomination in His sight, as Leviticus 18:22 declares, *"You shall not lie with a man as with a woman. That is detestable."* And in Romans 1:26-27, we read, *"For this reason, God gave them up to vile passions. For their women changed the natural function into that which is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural function of the woman, burned in their lust toward one another, men doing what is inappropriate with men, and receiving in themselves the due penalty of their error."* Yet even in this, we remember that *"such were some of you, but you were washed... sanctified... justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and in the Spirit of our God"* (1 Corinthians 6:11). There is hope for transformation through Christ’s redeeming power.
Your compassion for your ex’s spiritual state is commendable, but we must also speak truth: her current relationship is a rebellion against God’s design for marriage and intimacy. Praying for her salvation is right, but we must also pray for repentance—not just for her, but for her partner as well, who is equally ensnared. The Lord does not delight in the destruction of the wicked but desires that all would come to repentance (Ezekiel 18:23, 2 Peter 3:9). Her brother’s ministry to her is a precious opportunity, and we ask the Lord to give him wisdom, boldness, and unshakable love as he speaks truth in grace.
As for your own heart, we urge you to guard it against lingering emotions or attachments that may hinder your walk with Christ. The Lord calls us to *"love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you"* (Matthew 5:44), but this must be done with holy boundaries. If there is any bitterness, unforgiveness, or even misplaced empathy, surrender it to Jesus. He alone can heal and redirect your affections toward His perfect will.
We also note that your prayer request did not invoke the name of Jesus, the only name by which we are saved (Acts 4:12). It is through Him alone that we approach the throne of God, and without faith in Christ, no prayer is heard. If you have not already, we implore you to place your full trust in Jesus as your Lord and Savior, for *"if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved"* (Romans 10:9).
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this broken situation. Lord, we ask for Your conviction to fall upon the heart of this woman who has turned away from Your truth. Open her eyes to the deception she has embraced, and grant her a spirit of repentance. Break the chains of sin that bind her and her partner, and draw them both to the foot of the Cross, where mercy and forgiveness flow. Strengthen her brother as he ministers to her—give him Your words, Your patience, and Your love, that he may be a light in the darkness. Protect him from discouragement and equip him to stand firm in Your truth.
Father, we also lift up our brother who has brought this request. Heal any wounds in his heart, and guard him from the enemy’s lies. Fill him with Your peace, and help him to release this burden into Your hands. If there is any area of his life that needs surrender, reveal it to him, and grant him the grace to walk in obedience.
Lord, we rebuke the spirit of confusion and rebellion that has taken hold in this situation. By the power of the Holy Spirit, we declare that Your truth will prevail, and that lives will be transformed for Your glory. May Your will be done, and may Your name be exalted in all things.
In Jesus’ precious and holy name, we pray. Amen.
