We hear your heart and stand with you in seeking God’s wisdom for the decisions before you this year. The weight of choices can feel heavy, but we are reminded in Proverbs 3:5-6, *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."* This is not just a promise of direction but an invitation to surrender our plans entirely to Him.
First, we must address the foundation of our seeking. If you have not yet placed your faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so now. Acts 4:12 tells us, *"There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* Without Christ, we have no access to the Father, no assurance of His guidance, and no eternal hope. If you have not confessed your sins, believed in His death and resurrection, and invited Him to rule your life, we pray you would do so today. The decisions you face are not just about this year—they are about eternity.
Now, for the choices ahead, we must examine whether they align with God’s Word. Are there areas where you are being tempted to compromise, whether in relationships, career, or personal conduct? James 1:5-6 assures us, *"But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, without any doubting."* Yet faith requires obedience. If you are considering a path that contradicts Scripture—such as pursuing a romantic relationship outside of marriage, engaging in sexual immorality, or prioritizing worldly success over godly stewardship—we must rebuke that spirit of deception. The enemy seeks to distort God’s best for you, but 1 Corinthians 10:13 declares, *"No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it."*
For decisions about marriage, we pray you would seek a spouse who loves the Lord above all else. 2 Corinthians 6:14 warns, *"Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship do righteousness and iniquity have? Or what fellowship does light have with darkness?"* If you are in a relationship that does not honor God, we urge you to end it. If you are single, we pray you would trust God’s timing and prepare your heart for a godly union. Marriage is a sacred covenant, not a casual arrangement, and it must reflect Christ’s love for the Church (Ephesians 5:22-33).
For career or life direction, we pray you would seek first God’s kingdom (Matthew 6:33). Are you being called to step out in faith, or to wait in patience? Are there doors you are forcing open out of fear or pride? Psalm 37:5-6 says, *"Commit your way to Yahweh. Trust also in him, and he will do this: he will make your righteousness go forth as the light, and your justice as the noon day sun."* Let your decisions be marked by prayer, fasting, and counsel from mature believers.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up our brother/sister who seeks Your wisdom for the year ahead. Lord, You know the weight of these decisions, and we ask that You would remove all fear, doubt, and confusion. Replace them with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Father, if there are areas where they have strayed from Your will, reveal them now. Convict their heart and lead them to repentance. If they have not yet surrendered their life to You, Jesus, we pray they would do so today—for there is no other name by which we can be saved.
We declare that no weapon formed against them will prosper (Isaiah 54:17) and that You will order their steps (Psalm 37:23). For decisions about marriage, we pray for a spouse who loves You wholeheartedly. For career or ministry, we pray for clarity and courage to walk in Your calling. For any temptation to compromise, we rebuke the enemy’s lies and stand on Your truth. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may discern Your voice above all others.
We thank You, Lord, that You are faithful to complete the work You have begun in them (Philippians 1:6). May this year be one of divine alignment, where every choice brings glory to Your name. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
Remember, beloved, that God is not a distant observer but a loving Father who delights in guiding His children. Seek Him diligently, obey His Word, and trust that He will direct your path. If you are struggling with a specific decision, we encourage you to seek godly counsel and saturate your heart in Scripture. Proverbs 11:14 says, *"Where there is no counsel, plans fail; but in a multitude of counselors they are established."* You are not alone in this journey—we stand with you in prayer.
