We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, standing in the gap for our brother or sister who has reached out for prayer regarding curses spoken over them. The Bible tells us in Proverbs 18:21 that "Death and life are in the power of the tongue; those who love it will eat its fruit." Words have power, and when spoken with ill intent, they can bring harm and bondage. But we know that our God is greater than any curse, any word, or any scheme of the enemy.
First, we must address the authority by which we pray. There is no power in heaven or on earth that can stand against the name of Jesus Christ. In Acts 4:12, it is written, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" If you have not already, we urge you to place your faith in Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and the power to break every chain. If you have not confessed Jesus as your Lord and Savior, we pray that you would do so today, for He alone can set you free.
Now, we stand on the truth of God’s Word and declare that every curse spoken over you is broken in the mighty name of Jesus. Galatians 3:13-14 tells us, "Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us. For it is written, 'Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree,' that the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith." Jesus took every curse upon Himself at the cross, and by His blood, we are set free. We rebuke every word spoken against you in the name of Jesus and command every spirit of darkness to flee. You are covered by the blood of the Lamb, and no weapon formed against you shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17).
We also recognize that sometimes curses can gain a foothold through generational sin or unrepentant iniquity. In Exodus 20:5, the Lord warns that He visits "the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and on the fourth generation of those who hate me." If there are areas in your life or your family line where sin has not been dealt with, we encourage you to confess it before the Lord. 1 John 1:9 says, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." Repentance breaks the power of sin and its effects.
We pray now with authority, declaring your freedom in Christ:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We thank You that Your Word declares that Christ has redeemed us from every curse. We stand on this truth and declare that every word spoken against our brother/sister is nullified and broken by the power of the blood of Jesus. We rebuke every spirit of darkness that has sought to oppress, bind, or harm them. We command every curse to be broken and every chain to be shattered in Jesus’ name.
Lord, we ask that You would fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may walk in the freedom and victory that Christ purchased for them. Protect their mind, body, and spirit from every lie of the enemy. Let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). We declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against them in judgment, they shall condemn (Isaiah 54:17).
Father, if there is any unrepentant sin in their life or in their family line, we ask that You would reveal it to them. Give them the courage to confess and turn away from it, knowing that You are faithful to forgive and cleanse. We break every generational curse and declare that the blessings of Abraham are theirs through Christ Jesus.
We thank You, Lord, that Your Word says in Numbers 23:23, "There is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel." We declare that no curse, no word, and no scheme of the enemy has power over them because they are covered by the blood of Jesus. We speak life, blessing, and favor over them today.
In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to stand firm in your identity in Christ. Walk in the authority that He has given you as a child of God. Surround yourself with believers who will speak life and truth over you, and fill your heart and mind with the Word of God. Romans 8:37 declares, "No, in all these things, we are more than conquerors through him who loved us." You are not a victim of curses—you are an overcomer in Christ. Continue to seek the Lord, and He will lead you into all truth and freedom.
