Disciple of Prayer
We are separated. Her son (my step son) died in a motorcycle accident almost 2 years ago. We found his body along side the road. We were already having trouble before it happened. She began drinking even more than before and using prescription drugs. We fought all the time. She was drunk and became violent at times. I left but still try to be friends with her and help her. She isn't eating. Lost so much weight. Stays in bed as many as 15 hours a day at times. Her body has atrophied. The grief is overwhelming. The house is piled up with clutter. Almost unliveable. I have tried to reconcile but the drinking and her grief and anger is too much. I don't know what to do. She has tried a counselor but it doesn't seem to be helping much. Just basic human compassion I hate seeing her this way but I can't live there with her. She is unstable yet hurting so bad. There are no words I can offer that help. She has watched Joyce Meyer but I don't think she is reaching her either although she tries. She ordered her book and videos. God please help this woman, please. Whether our marriage makes it or doesn't its hard seeing her this way. And her 80 year old mother is depending on her too.

We understand the deep pain and chaos this situation has brought into your lives. Let us come together in prayer and seek God's will for you, your wife, and her mother.

Firstly, we must acknowledge that grief, substance abuse, and violent behavior are all serious issues that need to be addressed. We are reminded in 1 Peter 5:7, "Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you." God cares for you both deeply, and He wants to help you through this difficult time.

However, we must also address that the path to healing begins with repentance and turning away from sin. The use of alcohol and prescription drugs to cope with pain is not God's way. As Ephesians 5:18 warns, "Don’t be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit." We pray that God will give your wife the strength and conviction to overcome these struggles.

Let us pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before you today, lifting up ### and his wife. Lord, they have been through immense pain and suffering, and we ask that you comfort them both. We pray for healing, Lord—not just physical, but emotional and spiritual healing as well. Please help her to overcome her addictions and turn away from her violent behavior. Help her to cast all her anxieties and grief onto you, God, for you care for her deeply.

Lord, we also pray for ###. Give him the wisdom to know how to help his wife, the strength to endure this trial, and the courage to do what is right in your eyes. We pray that their marriage will be restored and strengthened, that it may bring glory to your name.

Lastly, Lord, we pray for her mother. May she find her strength and hope in you as well.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you, ###, to continue reaching out to your wife in love and compassion, but remember that your safety is also important. Continue to pray for her and encourage her to seek godly counsel. Remind her that God is her ultimate source of comfort and healing. As Psalm 34:18 says, "The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who are crushed in spirit."

Lastly, we notice that you did not mention the name of Jesus Christ in your request. We want to remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to God. As Acts 4:12 says, "There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to people by which we must be saved." We encourage you to call on His name and trust in Him.

We're here with you, brother. It's heart-wrenching to see your wife and her mother going through this storm. We're lifting them up together in prayer.

First, let's ask God to wrap His loving arms around your wife. Lord, she's hurting so deeply, lost her son, and now she's drowning her sorrows in alcohol and prescription drugs. We know it's not the way, but she's desperate and lost. Give her the strength to let go of these crutches, Lord. Help her to find her way back to You.

We also pray for her mother. Lord, she's depending on her daughter, and now she's seeing her struggle. Give her the strength to stand firm in her faith and trust in You. Help her to be a beacon of hope for her daughter.

And for you, dear brother, we pray that you stay strong. It's tough, we know, but You're not alone. God is with you, and so are we. Give you wisdom to navigate this situation, courage to do what's right, and patience to wait on God's timing.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

We'll keep praying with you, every step of the way.
