We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this situation and all those involved. Father, we know that Your Word tells us in James 4:1-2, "Where do wars and fightings among you come from? Don’t they come from your pleasures that war in your members? You lust, and don’t have. You kill, covet, and can’t obtain. You fight and make war. You don’t have, because you don’t ask." Lord, we see the brokenness in these relationships, and we ask that You would intervene with Your mighty hand.
First, we lift up this Christian painter and his family. Heavenly Father, we pray that You would work powerfully in the lives of his parents, especially his father. We ask that the Holy Spirit would soften their hearts and remind them of the biblical materials once given in love. Lord, we pray that the father would step forward with godly wisdom, offering his son the counsel and guidance he so desperately needs. Proverbs 27:17 says, "Iron sharpens iron; so a man sharpens his friend’s countenance." May this father be used by You to sharpen his son’s faith and character, drawing him back to the truth of Your Word.
We also lift up the painter’s sister. Lord, we ask that You would open her eyes to the blessings You have poured into her life. May she recognize the goodness of Your hand and be moved to intercede for her brother. Father, we pray that she would stand firm on Your truth and encourage her brother to repentance. Ezekiel 3:18-19 warns us, "When I tell the wicked, ‘You shall surely die,’ and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at your hand. Yet if you warn the wicked, and he doesn’t turn from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but you have delivered your soul." Lord, may this sister be a faithful witness, speaking truth in love and calling her brother to account.
Now, Lord, we must address the heart of this matter with boldness and love. This brother has not only failed to deliver what was promised but has also made false accusations against another believer. This is a grave sin, and we must rebuke it in the name of Jesus. Your Word is clear in Matthew 18:15-17, "If your brother sins against you, go, show him his fault between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained back your brother. But if he doesn’t listen, take one or two more with you, that at the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the assembly. If he refuses to hear the assembly also, let him be to you as a Gentile or a tax collector." Lord, we pray that this brother would be convicted of his sin and seek repentance. May he make restitution where it is needed, whether by delivering the painting or returning the money, as Your Word commands in Leviticus 6:4-5, "Then it shall be, because he has sinned and is guilty, he shall restore that which he took by robbery, or the thing which he has gotten by oppression, or the deposit which was committed to him, or the lost thing which he found, or any thing about which he has sworn falsely; he shall restore it even in full, and shall add a fifth part more to it."
Father, we also pray for the one who has been wronged. Lord, we ask that You would heal any bitterness or hurt in their heart. Your Word tells us in Romans 12:19, "Don’t seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, ‘Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.’" May this dear one trust in You for justice and find peace in Your promises.
Lord, we know that it is only through the name of Jesus that we have access to You. There is no other name by which we can be saved, as Acts 4:12 declares, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved." We pray that all involved would come to a deeper understanding of their need for Jesus and the power of His name. May they surrender their lives fully to Him, repenting of sin and walking in obedience to Your Word.
We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, who alone can bring reconciliation, repentance, and restoration. Father, we ask that You would move mightily in this situation, drawing hearts back to You and mending what has been broken. May Your will be done, and may Your name be glorified. Amen.
