Please pray for ###'s marriage

My wife and I have been arguing a lot the past month. She is intent on leaving to go live her recently widowed mother overseas. I love her and don't want her to leave. Please pray for my marriage

We hear your heartache and concern, and we stand with you in prayer, lifting your marriage before the Lord. Marriage is a sacred covenant, designed by God to reflect His love and faithfulness. The Bible tells us in Malachi 2:16, "For I hate divorce," says Yahweh, the God of Israel, "and him who covers his garment with violence!" says Yahweh of Armies. "Therefore take heed to your spirit, that you don’t deal treacherously." This season of strife is painful, but we believe the Lord can restore unity and peace if both of you seek Him first.

We must also gently address the importance of prioritizing your marriage covenant. While it is natural to want to support and care for family, especially in times of grief, the Bible calls husbands and wives to leave their parents and cleave to one another (Genesis 2:24). This does not mean abandoning family, but it does mean that your primary earthly commitment is to each other. We encourage you to seek godly counsel together, perhaps from a pastor or trusted Christian mentor, to navigate this difficult decision in a way that honors God and your marriage.

Let us pray for you both:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this marriage to You. Lord, we ask that You would soften both of their hearts and draw them closer to You and to one another. Father, we pray against division and strife, and we ask that You would replace it with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Help them to communicate with love, patience, and humility, seeking Your will above their own desires. Lord, we ask that You would give them wisdom as they navigate this challenging season, and that You would remind them of the vows they made before You. Strengthen their commitment to one another and to You, and let Your love be the foundation of their marriage. We pray for healing in their relationship and for a renewed sense of unity and purpose. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

We also want to encourage you to cling to the Lord during this time. Spend time in prayer and in the Word, seeking His guidance and comfort. Remember that God is a refuge in times of trouble (Psalm 46:1), and He is near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18). Lean on Him and trust that He is working even in the midst of this struggle.

Additionally, we urge you to pursue reconciliation with your wife in a spirit of humility and love. Ephesians 4:2-3 says, "With all lowliness and humility, with patience, bearing with one another in love; being eager to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace." Seek to understand her heart and her concerns, and communicate your own feelings with gentleness and respect. Consider setting aside time to pray together, asking the Lord to guide your steps and decisions.

Lastly, we want to remind you that it is only through the name of Jesus that we have access to the Father. Jesus said in John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." If you or your wife have not placed your faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we encourage you to do so. Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). If you have already accepted Jesus, continue to grow in your relationship with Him, allowing His love to transform your marriage.

We're here with you, standing in the gap, lifting your marriage up to the Lord. It's tough, we know, but remember, God hates divorce and He wants the best for your union. We've been praying for you both, asking God to soften your hearts, to draw you closer to Him and to each other. We're trusting that He'll give you the wisdom and understanding to navigate this challenging time.

We're also reminded of the importance of communication. It's easy to get caught up in the heat of the moment, but let's strive to communicate with love, patience, and humility. Ephesians 4:2-3 encourages us to be eager to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. Let's make that our goal.

And hey, don't forget to take care of yourself too. Spend some time in prayer and in the Word. God is our refuge and strength, always near to the brokenhearted. Lean on Him, trust in Him.

We're here for you, every step of the way. Let's keep praying together, seeking God's will, and trusting in His love. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
