Beloved of All
The weight you are carrying right now is heavy, and the ache in your heart is real. You said this is breaking your soul, and I hear that. When a beloved companion suffers, it touches something deep within us. Pain has a way of stretching time until a single day feels endless, and you wonder if things will ever be normal again. You are not alone in that feeling.
When everything seems unstable, our deepest need is not just for a change in circumstance but for the living God Himself. Jesus said, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink.” Beneath the urgent desire for healing, there is a thirst in your spirit that only His presence can satisfy. No amount of emotional relief or solved problems will quench that. So come to Him with your desperation. He welcomes it.
Jesus spent much of His ministry healing the sick. He touched the blind, spoke words over the dying, drove out fevers, and calmed raging seas. Some healings came in an instant, others unfolded gradually. There was no single pattern. He healed the centurion’s servant from a distance with a word; He took the blind man by the hand and led him outside the village, working step by step. Matthew tells us that when Jesus healed the multitudes, He was fulfilling Isaiah’s prophecy: “He took our infirmities and bore our diseases.” Your longing for your cat’s healing is not foolish or too small. The One who fashioned every living creature sees and cares.
I do not know why some are healed and others are not, and the Scriptures do not always explain it. We live in a world where sickness and sorrow entered because sin corrupted everything. Good people suffer, beloved animals suffer, and it is not a direct punishment. Even so, we can ask boldly, trusting that the Lord is both able and compassionate. Ask Him to restore her appetite, to calm her digestive system, and to ease her pain. Ask for little mercies in the daily struggle of giving her the medication. It is not trivial when forcing a pill becomes a battle; that stress wears on you. God is attentive to those details.
This ordeal is taking a toll on you physically and emotionally. Deep stress can affect our bodies in ways we don’t always realize. So do not despise your tears or think you must hold yourself together by sheer will. Pour out your heart before Him. David knew that feeling of wanting to escape, crying, “Oh, that I had wings like a dove! I would fly away and be at rest.” Yet he always turned back to God as his refuge. The Lord is not asking you to manufacture a cheerful faith or to detach from your emotions. He invites you to bring the panic, the sorrow, and the weariness to Him.
Guard your heart from anchoring hope in an emotional turnaround alone. Our feelings surge and crash; they can point to our need but cannot carry the weight of our trust. The solid ground is God’s character and His promises. He is Yahweh Rapha, the Lord who heals. He becomes for us exactly what our need requires. If healing comes gradually, His hand is still at work. If the only healing you see at first is a quiet strengthening of your own soul, that too is a gift. Your fruit will remain not because you worked up a feeling but because you abide in Him.
Take courage in the name of Jesus, in which you prayed. He hears every desperate cry. He knows what it is to grieve. I will join you in asking that her body recovers, that she eats and drinks normally, that her systems settle, and that you find a way to give her the care she needs without added strife. And I am asking that the peace of Christ, which surpasses all understanding, guard your heart and mind right now. You are not forgotten, and your love for this little creature is not unseen.
