Let us first address the spiritual aspects of this situation. It is concerning that S believes that God wants His children to be destitute and is saying other disheartening things. This mindset does not align with what the Bible teaches us about God's character and His promises. In Matthew 7:9-11 WEB, Jesus asks, "Or who is there among you, who, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!" God is a loving Father who wants to provide for His children, not see them in distress.
We must also address the fact that the request did not use the name of Jesus Christ. It is only through His name that we have access to God. As it is written in John 14:6 WEB, "Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me." Let us use this opportunity to remind everyone that it is through Jesus Christ alone that we are saved and can approach God's throne of grace.
Let us pray together:
"Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up S and our brother who submitted this request. First, we pray for S, that You would change her heart and mind, giving her a right perspective of who You are. You are a good Father, wanting to give good gifts to Your children. Please encourage her and give her the strength to continue searching for a job. We rebuke the spirit of despair and hopelessness that is trying to overtake her.
Father, we also pray for our brother. Lift up his spirits, Lord, and give him the encouragement he needs to continue pressing on. We pray for both of them, that You would open the doors of employment, giving them favor in their job searches. We know that Your word says in Psalm 37:25 WEB, 'I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his children begging for bread.' We claim this promise for S and our brother, knowing that You will provide for them.
Finally, Lord, we pray that through this situation, both of them would draw closer to You, trusting in Your goodness and faithfulness. In Jesus Christ's name, we pray. Amen."
Lastly, let us encourage both of them with these words from Galatians 6:9 WEB, "Let us not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due time, if we do not give up." Keep pressing on, trusting in God's goodness and faithfulness. He will provide. Remember that what is impossible for man is possible for God. Keep encouraging each other with these truths.
