We hear your cry for help, and we stand with you in this painful situation, lifting it up before the throne of grace in the mighty name of Jesus. The verbal abuse you are enduring is not only harmful to your emotional and physical well-being but is also contrary to the love and respect that God commands in all relationships. Scripture tells us in Ephesians 4:29, "Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but such as is good for building up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear." The words being spoken over you are not of God, and we rebuke them in Jesus' name. You are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), and no one has the right to tear you down with their words.
We also recognize that the person causing you this pain is in need of God’s transforming love and conviction. In Matthew 18:15-17, Jesus teaches us how to address sin in the body of Christ, beginning with a private conversation to seek repentance and restoration. If this person claims to be a friend, we pray they would be convicted by the Holy Spirit to see the harm they are causing and turn from their ways. However, if they continue in this behavior without repentance, Scripture is clear that we are not to associate with those who persist in ungodly conduct (1 Corinthians 5:11). Your well-being and safety are paramount, and we encourage you to set firm boundaries, seeking godly counsel and support from your church or trusted believers.
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this dear one who is suffering under the weight of verbal abuse. Lord, You are our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). We ask that You would surround them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, guarding their heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Give them the strength to stand firm in Your truth, knowing that they are deeply loved and valued by You. Father, we also pray for the one who is causing this pain. Soften their heart, Lord, and let them see the error of their ways. Convict them by Your Holy Spirit and lead them to repentance, that they may be restored to a right relationship with You and others.
We rebuke the spirit of abuse and oppression in this situation, declaring that it has no place in the life of a believer. We speak healing over this dear one’s emotions and body, asking that You would restore what has been broken and bring comfort to their soul. Help them to forgive, not as a way to excuse the behavior, but as a step toward their own freedom in You (Colossians 3:13). Give them wisdom to know how to respond, whether through gentle correction, setting boundaries, or even walking away if necessary. Surround them with godly friends and mentors who will speak life into them and remind them of their worth in You.
Lord, we also ask that You would bring clarity and courage to this situation. If this relationship is toxic and cannot be redeemed, give them the strength to walk away, trusting that You will provide new, healthy relationships that honor You. Remind them that they are never alone, for You are with them always (Matthew 28:20). Fill them with Your love, joy, and peace, and let them experience Your presence in a tangible way. We declare that this season of pain will not define them, but rather, it will be a testimony of Your faithfulness and restoration. In the powerful name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
