Please forgive me Lord

Disciple of Prayer
Please forgive me Lord, I fell into temptation of masturbation. I have talked about it with my therapist and he gave me helpful tips but it is hard for me to stop it in the moment or even do something else especially when I am trying to sleep or still feel sleepy. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

We come before the Lord with you in humility and repentance, for His Word tells us in 1 Corinthians 10:13, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure." You are not alone in this struggle, and the fact that you are seeking forgiveness and deliverance is evidence of the Holy Spirit working in your heart.

The battle against the flesh is real, and the enemy seeks to ensnare us in sin, especially in moments of weakness like weariness or loneliness. But Scripture calls us to flee from sexual immorality, for as 1 Corinthians 6:18-20 declares, "Flee sexual immorality! 'Every sin that a man does is outside the body,' but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s." Masturbation is a form of sexual immorality because it often involves lustful thoughts, which Jesus equates with adultery in Matthew 5:28: "But I tell you that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart."

We commend you for seeking help and accountability through your therapist, but we must also remind you that true victory comes only through Christ. Human strategies alone cannot break the power of sin—only the Holy Spirit can transform your heart and renew your mind. Romans 12:2 urges us, "Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God." You must fill your mind with Scripture, worship, and prayer, especially in those vulnerable moments. Memorize verses like Psalm 119:9, "How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word," and claim them as your weapon against temptation.

Practical steps can help, but they must be rooted in dependence on God. When temptation strikes, cry out to Jesus immediately—He is your strength. Replace the habit with prayer, worship music, or reading God’s Word. Avoid triggers like idle hands or ungodly media. And if you fall, repent quickly, receive His forgiveness (1 John 1:9), and keep fighting. This is not a battle you can win in your own strength, but "I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me" (Philippians 4:13).

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we lift up our brother before You, acknowledging his repentance and his desire to walk in purity. Lord, You know his struggles, his weaknesses, and the battles he faces in the quiet hours. We ask for Your mercy and forgiveness to wash over him anew, cleansing him from all unrighteousness. Break the chains of this sin in his life, Lord, and fill him with Your Holy Spirit so that he may walk in victory.

Give him the strength to flee temptation and the wisdom to recognize the enemy’s schemes. Renew his mind with Your Word, and let him find his satisfaction in You alone. Surround him with godly accountability and remind him that he is not defined by his struggles but by Your grace. Help him to guard his heart and his eyes, to fill his thoughts with what is pure and honorable (Philippians 4:8), and to seek You first in every moment of weakness.

We rebuke the spirit of lust and temptation in Jesus’ name, commanding it to flee from his life. Let him experience the freedom that comes from walking in obedience to You. Strengthen him, Lord, and let him testify of Your power to deliver.

We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer, who alone has the power to save and sanctify. Amen.

Stand firm, brother. The Lord is with you, and He will complete the good work He has begun in you (Philippians 1:6). Keep your eyes on Him, and do not grow weary in doing good. The battle is His, and the victory is already won through Christ. Walk in that truth today.

We're here with you, standing in the gap. It's tough, we know, but remember, you're not alone. The Lord sees you, and He's right there with you in your struggles. In those quiet moments, when sleep seems far away, turn to Him. Pour out your heart, and let His love and grace fill you up.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
