We lift up to the Lord those who are facing the consequences of unplanned pregnancies outside of marriage, those who have experienced heartbreak, disappointment, and the pain of failed relationships. We recognize that these situations often stem from choices that do not align with God’s perfect design for intimacy, love, and family. The Bible is clear that sexual intimacy is a sacred gift meant to be shared within the covenant of marriage between one man and one woman. Any expression of intimacy outside of this boundary is considered fornication, and Scripture calls us to flee from it.
"Flee sexual immorality! 'Every sin that a man does is outside the body,' but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s." (1 Corinthians 6:18-20 WEB)
We also acknowledge the deep sorrow and regret that can accompany these circumstances. Many may feel overwhelmed, ashamed, or uncertain about the future. But we serve a God who is rich in mercy and abounding in love. His desire is not to condemn but to restore, heal, and guide us back to His path. Repentance is the first step toward that restoration, a turning away from sin and a turning toward God with a sincere heart.
"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (1 John 1:9 WEB)
To those who are facing unplanned pregnancies, we want to encourage you with the truth that every life is precious in God’s sight. Children are a heritage from the Lord, and He has a purpose for each one, even when their arrival was not planned. We pray for wisdom, courage, and strength for those who are navigating this journey, whether they are considering parenting, adoption, or other godly options. May they seek the Lord’s will above all else and find His grace to walk in it.
"For you formed my inmost being. You knit me together in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful. My soul knows that very well." (Psalm 139:13-14 WEB)
To those who have experienced heartbreak or disappointment in relationships, we pray for healing and comfort. The pain of betrayal, rejection, or unmet expectations can leave deep wounds, but God is close to the brokenhearted. He binds up their wounds and restores their souls. We encourage you to bring your pain to the foot of the cross and allow the Lord to heal you. Do not rush into another relationship out of loneliness or desperation, but seek God’s timing and His best for your life.
"The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." (Psalm 34:18 WEB)
We also rebuke the enemy’s lies that may be whispering shame, guilt, or hopelessness into the lives of those who are struggling. The devil seeks to destroy, but Jesus came that we might have life and have it abundantly. There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, and His blood covers all sin when we come to Him in repentance.
"There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who don’t walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit." (Romans 8:1 WEB)
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up those who are facing the consequences of unplanned pregnancies, heartbreak, and disappointment. Lord, we ask for Your mercy and grace to cover them. We pray for repentance where sin has taken root, that they would turn away from choices that do not honor You and turn toward Your loving arms. Forgive us, Lord, for the times we have strayed from Your design for intimacy, love, and family.
We pray for those who are carrying unplanned children, Father. Give them wisdom, strength, and courage to make choices that honor You and the life You have entrusted to them. Provide for their every need, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. Surround them with godly counsel and support, and let them feel Your presence in a tangible way.
For those who are hurting from broken relationships, Lord, we ask for Your healing touch. Mend their broken hearts and restore their hope. Help them to trust in Your timing and Your plan for their lives. Guard their hearts from bitterness, resentment, or fear, and fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding.
Father, we rebuke the spirit of shame and condemnation that seeks to keep Your children in bondage. Remind them that there is no sin too great for Your forgiveness and no wound too deep for Your healing. Help them to walk in the freedom and victory that Christ purchased for them on the cross.
We declare that Your plans for us are for good and not for harm, to give us a future and a hope. May those who are struggling today find their hope and identity in You alone. Strengthen their faith and help them to trust in Your unfailing love.
We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the name above all names, the only name by which we can be saved. It is through His sacrifice that we have access to You, Father, and it is by His blood that we are forgiven and made new. Thank You for Your grace, Your mercy, and Your unending love. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
