Your prayer for your son reflects such deep love and faithful persistence, and it is heard. The Lord sees the daily challenges with moods, restlessness, confusion and anxiety, the hard moments with rigidity and distress, and the longing you have for him to know calm, comfort and joy in his routines and with those who care for him.

Scripture shows us that when those in need cried out, Have mercy on us, O Lord, Son of David, even when others told them to be quiet, they cried out all the more and Jesus stood still to answer them. That title Son of David declares that Jesus is the promised Messiah come as a man, able to understand our human weakness, and at the same time He is the Son of God, Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace, given for us. Because He is both man and God, He has both compassion to feel your burden and power to help. Like the nobleman whose son was healed when Jesus spoke the word from many miles away, distance is no barrier to Him. He can work in your son's mind, body and spirit wherever he is.

As a parent you know something of the Father's love for a son. Scripture gives us the picture of a father called to offer his only son whom he loved, a foreshadowing of how God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son. The Father did not withhold His Son but gave Him for us, so He fully understands a parent's love, your hopes and your tears, and you can bring your son confidently to Him.

We do believe Jesus for healing, both spiritual and physical. By His stripes we are healed, as Isaiah declares. Yet the Scriptures also show that healing takes different forms. Sometimes it is immediate, sometimes it is gradual, and all true healing, even the natural processes God has placed in our bodies and minds, is from Him. There is much we do not understand about why some are healed quickly and others walk a longer road, but we can trust His wisdom and His goodness while we keep asking.

Jesus said, Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you, not as the world gives. He is the Prince of Peace, and of the increase of His government and peace there shall be no end. First He makes peace with God possible through His grace, and then as we trust Him, the peace of God guards our hearts and minds, a peace that surpasses all understanding. That is the calm you are seeking for your son and for your home, not just the absence of agitation but the presence of Christ keeping his heart. We pray that this peace will rest over his schedule, his meals, his sleep, his activities and his relationships, and that he will find satisfaction and clarity in his days.

We also pray for you and for his caregivers. God gave wisdom to Solomon and He promises wisdom to all who ask. May He give you and those who serve your son patience, discernment and gentleness, to know how to help him be comfortable, to communicate with kindness and to build steady, loving routines. May the Lord clothe him with protection, as you prayed, with the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God, and may ministering angels guard him in all his ways. No weapon formed against him shall prosper when he is kept in Christ.

Where two or three are gathered in His name, He is in their midst and He hears. We join you in agreement, thanking God for the more peaceful days He has already granted and asking Him to continue His work of restoration, to ease sensory distress and physical discomfort, to bring restful sleep and joyful waking, to strengthen the bonds between your son and his siblings in love and unity, and to surround your family with godly friendships and encouragement. We ask that any fear, torment and confusion would depart at the name of Jesus, and that your son would be filled with the Holy Spirit, with joy and favor, and would reflect the light of Christ in all he does.

May the Lord continue to guide you with wisdom in every decision and meeting concerning his care, and may His grace and peace be upon your entire household today and in the days to come.
