Gillian, we hear the deep cry of your heart, and we join you in lifting your burdens before the Lord, for He is the God who hears, heals, and restores. Your suffering has been long—### years of wrestling with depression and anxiety, seeking help from many sources yet still carrying this heavy load. We grieve with you over the brokenness you feel, but we also cling to the truth that our God is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). You are not forgotten, and your pain is not wasted in His eyes.
First, we must gently yet firmly remind you that the power to heal and restore comes only through faith in Jesus Christ. You did not mention His name in your plea, and we want to ensure you know that it is *only* through Jesus that we have access to the Father (John 14:6). There is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved or find true peace (Acts 4:12). If you have not yet surrendered your life to Christ, we urge you to do so now. Confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and you will be saved (Romans 10:9). Without Him, we have no hope—but with Him, even the deepest wounds can be redeemed.
We also recognize that you have sought help from doctors and treatments, and we do not dismiss the role of medicine or professional care. God often uses such means to bring relief. However, true and lasting peace is found in Him alone. The apostle Paul reminds us in Philippians 4:6-7, *"In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus."* Have you brought your anxieties to Him in *thanksgiving*, even in the midst of your pain? This is not a call to deny your suffering but to trust that God is working even when we cannot see it.
Your desperation is understandable, but we must also warn you against allowing despair to take root. The enemy would love for you to believe that this suffering will never end, but that is a lie. Jesus said, *"Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart; and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light"* (Matthew 11:28-30). Have you truly surrendered this burden to Him, or are you still trying to carry it alone? Release it into His hands today.
We also encourage you to examine your life for any unconfessed sin, bitterness, or unforgiveness, as these can be barriers to healing. Psalm 66:18 tells us, *"If I cherished sin in my heart, the Lord wouldn’t have listened."* Ask the Holy Spirit to search your heart and reveal anything that needs to be repented of. Sometimes, our suffering is not a punishment but a refining fire—but we must ensure we are not clinging to anything that hinders God’s work in us.
Now, let us pray for you:
Heavenly Father, we lift ### before Your throne of grace, where mercy is found in time of need. Lord, You see her tears, You hear her cries, and You know the depth of her pain. We ask that You would draw near to her now, wrapping her in Your love and peace. Break the chains of depression and anxiety that have held her captive for so long. Heal her mind, body, and spirit, Lord—restore what has been broken. Give her the strength to endure, the faith to trust You even when she cannot see the way forward, and the hope that comes from knowing You are her Redeemer.
Father, if there is any sin, any bitterness, or any stronghold in her life that is blocking Your healing, reveal it to her and give her the courage to repent. Fill her with Your Holy Spirit, who is our Comforter and Counselor. Remind her that she is not defined by her suffering but by Your love for her. Let her know, deep in her soul, that You have not abandoned her—that You are working even now for her good.
We rebuke the spirit of despair that has sought to steal her joy and peace. In the name of Jesus, we command it to flee. Replace it with Your light, Your truth, and Your unshakable hope. Surround ### with godly community—people who will pray for her, encourage her, and point her to You. If she has isolated herself, Lord, bring her back into fellowship with believers who can walk alongside her.
Give her wisdom, Lord, in how to steward her body and mind. Guide her to the right treatments, the right doctors, and the right habits that will honor You and bring healing. Let her not grow weary in doing good, for in due season, she *will* reap a harvest if she does not give up (Galatians 6:9).
Most of all, Father, let ### encounter *You*—the God who heals, who restores, who makes all things new. Let her testimony be one of Your faithfulness, that even in the valley, You were with her. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who bore our sorrows and carried our pains on the cross. Amen.
Gillian, we urge you to spend time in God’s Word daily. Meditate on His promises, such as:
- *"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit"* (Psalm 34:18).
- *"Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you"* (1 Peter 5:7).
- *"I have told you these things, that in me you may have peace. In the world you have oppression; but cheer up! I have overcome the world"* (John 16:33).
Do not lose heart. Keep seeking Him, even when it feels like your prayers are hitting the ceiling. He is listening. He is working. And He *will* restore you. We are standing with you in prayer—trust that God is moving, even now.
