We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this family in their time of financial struggle. Father God, we know that You are Jehovah Jireh, the Lord who provides, and we trust in Your faithfulness to meet every need according to Your riches in glory in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). Your Word assures us that You are near to those who have a broken heart and save those who have a crushed spirit (Psalm 34:18). We ask that You would open the doors of opportunity for this young man as he seeks employment.
Lord, we pray that You would grant him favor in the eyes of those interviewing him. May the words of his mouth and the meditation of his heart be pleasing in Your sight, O Lord, his Rock and his Redeemer (Psalm 19:14). Give him clarity of mind, wisdom, and confidence as he answers questions. Remind him that it is not by might nor by power, but by Your Spirit that success comes (Zechariah 4:6). We rebuke any spirit of fear or anxiety that may try to take hold of him, for You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control (2 Timothy 1:7).
Father, we also lift up the financial crisis this family is facing. You know their needs even before they ask, and we trust that You will provide in ways that only You can. We pray that You would soften the hearts of those who may be in a position to help, whether through employment, generosity, or other means. Your Word says that the borrower is servant to the lender (Proverbs 22:7), and we ask that You would break any chains of debt or financial bondage in their lives. Lead them to wise counsel and godly stewardship of the resources You provide.
We must also address the importance of seeking You first in all things. Jesus taught us that we should not worry about our lives, what we will eat or drink, or about our bodies, what we will wear. Instead, we are to seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness, and all these things will be given to us as well (Matthew 6:31-33). We encourage this family to draw near to You, to cast all their anxieties on You because You care for them (1 Peter 5:7). It is only through the name of Jesus that we have access to You, Father, and it is by His blood that we are saved. There is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). We pray that their faith would remain steadfast in You, knowing that You are their provider and sustainer.
Lord, we also ask that You would guide this young man in his career. May he use the skills and knowledge You have blessed him with to honor You and to serve others. Help him to remember that whatever he does, he should work at it with all his heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters (Colossians 3:23). May his work be a testimony to Your goodness and grace.
We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
