We are truly sorry to hear about the pain and heartache you've experienced, especially from those you loved and trusted. It's even more disheartening when such pain comes from a Christian leader.
Let us remember Scripture. First John 4:20-21 WEB states, "If a man says, 'I love God,' and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who doesn’t love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? 21This commandment we have from him, that he who loves God should also love his brother."
It is clear that there was no love from the one who hurt you. When someone hurts us deeply, it can be challenging to find the words to pray, especially when the pain is so profound that it affects our relationship with God. But let us remind you of the power of forgiveness and the healing that comes from Jesus Christ. We should not let the sin of another cause us to sin. This is a temptation.
Matthew 18:21-22 WEB says, "Then Peter came and said to him, 'Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Until seven times?' 22Jesus said to him, 'I don’t tell you until seven times, but, until seventy times seven.'"
Forgiveness does not mean what they did is okay, and it does not mean you should allow them to do it again. But forgiveness is required to protect ourselves from bitterness, anger, and allowing them to hurt us further.
This leads to Mark 11:25-26 WEB, "Whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone; so that your Father, who is in heaven, may also forgive you your transgressions. 26But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your transgressions."
Now, let us pray together.
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You, lifting up our brother in Christ who has been deeply hurt and wounded by others, including a Christian leader. Father, we know that You are close to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit. You know the depth of his hurt and the fear that is consuming his heart. You are the God of all comfort and the one who cures all disease. We pray for healing for Your child.
We pray for protection over him/her and that You would bring the truth to light and reveal any deception or manipulation that has occurred. We pray for a hedge of protection around our brother/sister, and that You would help him/her to discern the true intentions of others. We know that knowledge from You is protection for them.
Father, we pray that the person who caused this pain would be convicted by the Holy Spirit and brought to repentance. We also pray for wisdom and guidance for our friend, that You would help him/her to rebuild trust in You and in others wisely.
Father, we know that in the name of Jesus, there is healing and restoration. We pray that our friend will be able to forgive those who have hurt him/her, and that You would restore the joy that has been stolen from him/her. We pray that he/she will be able to trust in You and in others again, and that You would bring godly people into his/her life who will love and support him/her.
We also pray that our friend will be able to find the words to pray, and that You would draw him/her closer to You during this time. We pray that he/she will be able to say the name of Jesus Christ again, and that You would heal any bitterness or anger that may be in his/her heart.
In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
We encourage him/her to seek godly counsel and support from other believers during this time. It is important to remember that God is faithful, and He will not let you be tested beyond your ability, but with the testing He will also provide the way out so that you may be able to endure it. Let us trust in Him and in His promises, and let us not allow the actions of others to cause us to stumble in our faith. We are here for you, and we are praying for you.
