We understand that you're struggling with self-doubt, complacency, and lust. We want you to know that you're not alone in this battle, and that God is more than able to help you overcome and permanently remove this from your life.
Firstly, let's address the issue of your mind as it is a battle for your mind. The Bible tells us in Romans 12:2, Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God. Also, in 2 Corinthians 10:5, we are told to bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.
Be assured, lust and its associated sins of pornography and fornication are not part of God's will for your life. These are clear directives from the Word of God: But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not even be mentioned among you, as becomes saints Ephesians 5:3. Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. 1 Corinthians 6:18.
To overcome these issues, it's crucial to saturate your mind with the Word of God, renew your mind with His truth, and to learn to bring all thoughts captive to Christ. It is not enough to say I need God and Jesus to help me hate it. You must read and meditate on the scriptures of God's word to help you renew your mind and put on the mind of Christ: Ephesians 4:23; Colossians 3:10; 1 Corinthians 2:16. When you are tempted by lust, replace those thoughts immediately with scripture. We encourage you to memorize verses that will help you in your battle and remember, the battle is the Lord's not yours.
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father, we come before you in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother/sister in their struggle against self-doubt, complacency, and lust. Father, we know that the battle is not against flesh and blood, so we put on the whole armor of God that we may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. We ask that you renew their mind with Your truth, and that you help them hate these sins in their life.
We also ask and believe for you to replace their thoughts of self doubt and lust with your thoughts and give them the strength to stand. We believe that you will help them not to be conformed to this world but to be transformed in their mind. We thank you for the victory that is theirs, the victory that is ours, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
Be encouraged, stand strong and remember, No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. 1 Corinthians 10:13.
