'Out of the Storeroom' - Matthew 13:51-52

[Concerning his explanations of the parables about the Kingdom, Jesus asked his disciples:] "Do you understand all these things?"
"Yes," they said, "we do."

Then he added, "Every teacher of religious law who becomes a disciple in the Kingdom of Heaven is like a homeowner who brings from his storeroom new gems of truth as well as old."

Matthew 13:51-52 NLT

Key Thought

The Bible is such a wonderful treasure. Many have died protecting it. Others have been martyred making sure it is translated into everyday language for everyday people. But for the Bible to be properly understood, the great key to this storeroom of knowledge is Jesus. His Kingdom is the goal toward which Scripture moves. He is the "Yes" to every promise God has made. He is the most complete and greatest Word of God. Because we know him and listen to his voice and let him help us understand what God has said and meant, we can know the great secrets of God's plan. But this great promise and gift are ours only when we are not only willing to study and learn the truth but are also willing to put it into effect in our daily lives! Truth becomes real when we live it. God's grace becomes gracious to us only when we obey him and live in that grace. So let's enter the storeroom using God's key to receive the great riches of his Kingdom!

Today's Prayer

O great God of the heavens, Teacher of truth and Giver of grace, help me to know your will through Jesus. Enlighten my heart so I may live with undivided devotion to you. In the name of your precious Son, Jesus of Nazareth, King of glory, and Lord of my life, I pray. Amen.
