Humble Servant of All
My name is Lorna Obbrace. I am a Bahamian citizen. I have written before about the abuse of power here ,in the Bahamas by police & courts. I hope you can encourage change for the better here. I am presently being hounded by the police for no good reason. I would like to point out that anyone of influence can use anyone in any area of the civil service, security forces or those who work in the court house as their own personal servants.It is because of an influential pastor here named Dr. Myles Munroe that I am having so much trouble. I have not been able to find work in years & I have been forced into homelessness because of this. I have to beg for help from people to eat & I have been paying my rent that way for a while. Once those who I formerly attended church with found out I was there they have used friends on the radio & bus drivers etc, but most effectively police officers to spread the word that I simply do not want to work. They tell people I do not deserve help but the police make this more effective by telling people I'm a con artist. They show up at the mall , for example, mainly reserve officers in plain clothes & openly laugh in the front of me ,saying I will not get enough to help me with my rent. They walk all through the mall talking about me as if they are going to arrest me eventually for soliciting funds. They have told people that I am a prostitute. Whiles I was on the streets, sleeping on a boat on the dock, I was beaten & nearly raped by someone who assured me that I would get no help from police officers. When the police came they immediately accussed me of being a prostitute. I stayed at a home with a family for a short while & asked for help until I had enough to rent a room, which I am in now. The officers have gotten me removed from the food stores, the malls & have told me that everytime I venture downtown, Nassau, they would run me out of the area. I have been told that loitering is not allowed & I have to be buying something or I can not be there for any length of time. This is used to target certain people, like me, but many people who are not working downtown or shopping hang out in the area. The church has also spread the rumor around that I am a lesbian as the reason why I have no children or boyfriend. I am threatened at times & recently the same old newspapper containing two stories on men who were acquitted for murder because the courts said they were provoked because the person they killed made homosexual advances at them have been left in areas for me to see. Nothing new on any of these tactics - this has been going on for a number of years. Please help!
Psalm 64
For the director of music. A psalm of David.
1 Hear me, O God, as I voice my complaint;
protect my life from the threat of the enemy.
2 Hide me from the conspiracy of the wicked,
from that noisy crowd of evildoers.
3 They sharpen their tongues like swords
and aim their words like deadly arrows.
Psalm 10:17-18
17 You hear, O LORD, the desire of the afflicted;
you encourage them, and you listen to their cry, 18 defending the fatherless and the oppressed,
in order that man, who is of the earth, may terrify no more.
4 They shoot from ambush at the innocent man;
they shoot at him suddenly, without fear.
5 They encourage each other in evil plans,
they talk about hiding their snares;
they say, "Who will see them [a] ?"
6 They plot injustice and say,
"We have devised a perfect plan!"
Surely the mind and heart of man are cunning.
7 But God will shoot them with arrows;
suddenly they will be struck down.
8 He will turn their own tongues against them
and bring them to ruin;
all who see them will shake their heads in scorn.
9 All mankind will fear;
they will proclaim the works of God
and ponder what he has done. 10 Let the righteous rejoice in the LORD
and take refuge in him;
let all the upright in heart praise him!
