We also encourage you to remember that while late fees and credit reports are temporal concerns, our ultimate trust must be in God’s perfect timing and justice. Proverbs 16:33 tells us, *"The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from Yahweh."* Even in this, He is in control. That said, it is wise to take practical steps as well. Document all communications with the bank—dates, times, and the names of representatives you speak with—so you have a record if disputes arise later. Ask the bank if they will waive late fees due to their system failure, as some institutions may offer grace in such situations. If bills are at risk of being reported late to credit agencies, you might also explain the situation to those creditors; some may work with you if they see you’re acting in good faith.
At the same time, we must guard our hearts against bitterness or anger toward the bank or its employees. Ephesians 4:31-32 instructs us, *"Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice. Remind them that You are their Provider and that even in this, You are working all things together for their good (Romans 8:28).
