One step closer to the one I love, one step closer to my creator above.

Your light is shining brighter every day, so now I must thank you each time I pray.

I was arrogant, so foolish, the devil kept feeding me lies,

So nothing registered because I was so full of pride.

A simple trick of deceit, made my soul so weak,

To deny you my savior as I unwittingly speak.

I thought I knew you, but your words I deny,

And as your Holy spirit spoke to me, my sins I could no longer hide .

The world makes it so easy for one to believe,

That most people are saved and on their way to eternity.

However, we have forgotten one critical step,

Have you really forsaken the physical, for spiritual wealth?

How did I lie so long to myself, to lie to the Father, the son and spirit above anything else.

To say I was walking in the spirit, but not righteous within.

My soul was on the way to hell, not heaven.

Out of my stubborness, almost fell for the devil lies,

So thank you once more Jesus for saving my life.
