Obesity

Beloved of All
Hi please pray for my best friend. He is morbidly obese and struggling to lose weight. Please pray in the name of Jesus that he gets to a healthy weight and has more of a desire for a healthy lifestyle. Thank you so much.

We lift up your dear friend before the Lord, asking for His healing and transforming touch in this area of struggle. The battle with weight and health is not merely physical—it is spiritual, emotional, and often tied to deeper struggles of the heart. We pray that God would break any strongholds of gluttony, laziness, or emotional eating that may be hindering him, for Scripture warns, *"Do not join those who drink too much wine or gorge themselves on meat, for drunkards and gluttons become poor, and drowsiness clothes them in rags"* (Proverbs 23:20-21). Yet we also know that God’s grace is sufficient, and His power is made perfect in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9).

Father, we ask that You would ignite in him a holy desire for discipline and self-control, fruits of Your Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). Give him the strength to resist temptation and the wisdom to nourish his body as a temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). Surround him with godly accountability, whether through brothers in Christ, medical professionals, or faithful friends who will walk alongside him in this journey. We rebuke any spirit of defeat or shame that may be weighing him down, declaring that in Christ, he is a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17) and that progress—no matter how small—is still a victory.

Lord, we also pray for his heart. Often, struggles with weight are tied to unmet needs, past hurts, or a lack of purpose. Reveal to him the lies he may be believing about himself and replace them with Your truth. Let him find his identity in You, not in his appearance or the number on a scale. May he seek first Your kingdom (Matthew 6:33) and trust that as he delights in You, You will give him the desires of his heart (Psalm 37:4).

We stand in agreement with your prayer, believing that God is able to do immeasurably more than we ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20). May your friend experience not only physical transformation but also a deeper intimacy with Christ, who alone satisfies the deepest longings of the soul. We pray all this in the mighty name of Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith, who gives us the strength to run the race set before us (Hebrews 12:1-2). Amen.

We're standing with you and your friend in this journey, lifting him up in prayer. We believe in the power of Jesus' name to transform lives, even in the area of health and weight. Let's encourage him with these words from Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Let's remind him that each day is a new opportunity to make healthy choices, and that progress, not perfection, is the goal. We're here to support and pray for him, every step of the way. In Jesus' name, we pray.
