Not by works....

I see this video series on U Tube, that show different people throughout human history, standing before God in judgment, and at first I found it interesting, but then I saw a pattern where they seem to show them being "let off the hook more by their good deeds than by their belief, or absence of stating it, in Jesus. So after seeing that pattern several times, I took it with a grain of salt. My understanding is, the Bible states we can't save ourselves, we are saved by grace not by works, and also, all our good deeds are as filthy rags before God. Did I interpret right? And Jesus became the substitute for our sins, placing our faith in him gets us saved, followed by Christian deeds. These videos have it backwards. Also, we can't "guess at" who is going where. "Many of the first will be last, and the last first." Am I right, and request for people not to be misled.

You’ve identified a critical and deeply biblical concern. The videos you describe appear to distort the Gospel by suggesting that good deeds can earn salvation or mitigate judgment apart from faith in Jesus Christ. This is a dangerous deception, for Scripture is unmistakably clear: salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone—not by works.

The apostle Paul writes in Ephesians 2:8-9, *"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, that no one would boast."* And in Romans 3:28, *"We maintain therefore that a man is justified by faith apart from the works of the law."* Your understanding is absolutely correct—no amount of human effort, no matter how noble, can justify us before a holy God. Isaiah 64:6 confirms this: *"For all of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteousness is like a filthy rag."*

Jesus Himself became the perfect substitute for our sins, bearing the punishment we deserved. As 2 Corinthians 5:21 declares, *"For him who knew no sin he made to be sin on our behalf, that in him we might become the righteousness of God."* Salvation is received by placing our faith in Christ’s finished work on the cross, not by our own merit. Any teaching that suggests otherwise—even subtly—leads people away from the truth of the Gospel.

You’re also right to caution against presuming to judge who is saved or lost. Jesus warned in Matthew 7:21-23 that not everyone who claims to follow Him will enter the Kingdom, and in Matthew 20:16, *"So the last will be first, and the first last."* Only God knows the heart, and we must be careful not to assume anyone’s eternal destiny based on outward appearances.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with grateful hearts, acknowledging that our salvation rests solely in the finished work of Your Son, Jesus Christ. We thank You for Your grace, which is freely given, not earned by our efforts. Lord, we ask that You would guard the hearts and minds of Your people from any teaching that distorts the Gospel, whether through subtle deception or outright falsehood. Strengthen our discernment, that we may recognize and reject anything that contradicts Your Word.

We pray for those who may be misled by messages that emphasize works over faith. Open their eyes to the truth of Your grace, and draw them to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ alone. Help us to stand firm in the Gospel, proclaiming it boldly and living it out in a way that honors You.

Father, we also ask for humility in our own lives. Remind us daily that our good deeds are a response to Your love, not a means to earn it. May we never boast in anything but the cross of Christ. Protect us from pride, and fill us with a deep dependence on You.

We pray these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the only name by which we are saved. Amen.

Continue to stand on the truth of Scripture, and may God use your discernment to help others see the beauty of His grace. The Gospel is not a message of what we must do, but of what Christ has already done. Let that truth anchor your heart and guide your steps.

We've been reflecting on your insight about those videos, and we're grateful for your discernment. It's true, the Bible makes it clear that salvation is a gift from God, received by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, not by our own efforts or good deeds (Ephesians 2:8-9). As it's written, "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast" (NIV).

We've been reminded of Jesus' words in Matthew 7:21-23, where He warns that not everyone who calls Him 'Lord' will enter the Kingdom of Heaven, but only those who do the will of His Father in heaven. It's a sobering thought, isn't it? It's not about our own assumptions or judgments, but about God's heart and His will.

Let's keep praying for discernment, and for those who might be influenced by these videos. May God open their eyes to the truth of His grace, and draw them to a genuine faith in Jesus Christ. And let's remember to keep our own hearts humble, always aware that our good deeds are a response to His love, never a means to earn it.

Let's pray together:

"Lord, we ask for wisdom and discernment. Help us to recognize and reject any teaching that distorts the Gospel. Strengthen our faith, and help us to live out the Gospel in a way that honors You. We pray for those who might be misled, that You would open their eyes to the truth of Your grace. And we pray for humility in our own lives, that we would never boast in anything but the cross of Christ. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

Thank you Heavenly Father for blessing us with another day, and for all you do for all of us. All glory and honor belongs to you Father. I lift this prayer up on your glory Father God and ask that you grant your perfect will. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”

‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3‬:‭17‬ ‭NIV‬

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy.

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Healed Spirit Soul And Body

We are so grateful you shared this burden with us and allowed us to stand beside you in prayer. Your concern for the truth of the Gospel and the souls who might be led astray by false representations of God’s grace is deeply felt, and we have lifted it before our Father daily. Scripture is clear: salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone, and every attempt to add human works to that finished work dishonors the cross.

If, in these days since you posted, the Lord has given you fresh clarity, fresh courage to speak, or fresh opportunities to share the pure message of salvation, we would love to hear how He has answered. Please post a praise report so we can rejoice with you.

If the confusion persists, or if new questions have arisen, do not hesitate to post your request again. We are committed to praying alongside you until every doubt is settled and every heart is pointed to Jesus. May the Holy Spirit continue to illuminate His Word in your mind and confirm in your spirit that we are saved not by what we do, but by what He has already done.

We pray all these things in the powerful, precious name of Jesus. Amen.
