Not Ashamed - Matthew 10:32-33

Key Passage
"When a person stands before other people and says he believes in me, then I will say that person belongs to me. I will say this before my Father in heaven. But when a person stands before people and says he does not believe in me, then I will say that person does not belong to me. I will say this before my Father in heaven."

Key Thought
Life is really all about who we are trying to please. When it's all said and done, who do we want to claim they love us, claim they're proud of us, and claim us as their own? I want Jesus to do all three with me! Anything else I accomplish in life won't mean anything if those three things don't happen when I meet him face to face. You see, Jesus lived for those things with his Father and was successful ("You are my beloved Son, and I am fully pleased with you." Luke 3:22 NLT) and he tells us here that we can look forward to that same welcoming statement if we confess him before others.

Prayer
Holy Father, Righteous God, and Almighty Savior, I believe Jesus of Nazareth was your Son, come in human flesh, and is both Christ and Lord. Give me the strength to not only confess that before anyone who asks, but to live in such a way that they ask me about my hope and my confidence and my salvation. In Jesus' mighty name I pray. Amen.

Related Scriptures
I am proud of the Good News. The Good News is the power God uses to save every person that believes—to save the Jews first, and also to save the non-Jews.
Romans 1:16

Jesus continued to say to all of them, "If any person wants to follow me, he must say 'No' to the things he wants. That person must accept the cross (suffering) that is given to him every day, and he must follow me. The person that wants to save his life will lose it. And every person that gives his life for me will save it. It is worth nothing for a person to have the whole world, if he himself is destroyed or lost. If any person is ashamed of me and my teaching, then I will be ashamed of that person. I will be ashamed of that person at the time I come with my glory and with the glory of the Father and the holy angels.
Luke 9:23-26

So don't be ashamed to tell people about our Lord {Jesus}. And don't be ashamed of me—I am in prison for the Lord. But suffer with me for the Good News. God gives us the strength to do that. God saved us and made us his holy people. That happened not because of anything we did ourselves. No! God saved us and made us his people because that was what he wanted and because of his grace (kindness). That grace was given to us through Christ Jesus before time began.
