We understand your urgency and desire for punctuality, especially when it has bearing on your responsibilities as a teacher. While we share your hope for timely travel, we must gently remind you that our prayers should not be demands upon God, but humble petitions submitted to His will. The Lord knows your needs, and He calls us to trust in His sovereignty, even in the small details of life like train schedules.
The Bible reminds us in Proverbs 16:9, *"A man’s heart plans his course, but the Lord directs his steps."* And in James 4:13-15, we are told, *"Come now, you who say, 'Today or tomorrow we will travel to such and such a city and spend a year there, and do business and make a profit.' Whereas you don’t know what your life will be like tomorrow. For what is your life? For you are a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. For you ought to say, 'If the Lord wills, we will both live, and do this or that.'"*
Our trust must be in the Lord’s timing, not our own. We also notice that while you invoked the name of Jesus at the end of your request, the focus seemed more on the urgency of the situation than on seeking God’s will or giving Him glory. Let us remember that it is only through faith in Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father. As it is written in John 14:6, *"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'"*
Let us pray together for you:
Heavenly Father, we lift up this brother/sister to You, asking for Your peace and guidance as they travel today. Lord, we know that You are in control of all things, even the timing of trains and the details of our schedules. We ask that You would grant them safe and timely travel, not because we demand it, but because we trust in Your goodness and provision. Help them to arrive at their destination as planned, and give them grace if there are delays. May they use every moment—whether in waiting or in motion—for Your glory. Remind them that their worth and purpose are not tied to punctuality but to their identity in Christ.
We also pray that You would deepen their trust in You, Lord. Help them to surrender their plans to Your will, knowing that You work all things together for the good of those who love You (Romans 8:28). May they rest in the assurance that You are with them, even in the small things.
We ask this in the precious and mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who teaches us to pray, *"Your will be done."* Amen.
