We join you in gratitude for this day the Lord has made, rejoicing in His faithfulness as we lift our voices in prayer. It is wonderful to see your heart of thanksgiving and trust in God’s perfect timing, and we affirm your faith in Jesus Christ, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved. As it is written, *"There is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus"* (1 Timothy 2:5, WEB). Your prayer is rooted in the right foundation—trust in Him alone.
However, we must gently but firmly address a concerning phrase in your prayer: *"Father God come with your Guiding Angels and come sleep with us during the night."* Beloved, while angels are ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation (Hebrews 1:14), we are never to invite them—or any created being—to dwell with us in a way that replaces or diminishes our reliance on the Holy Spirit, our Comforter and Helper. Jesus promised, *"I will pray to the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, that he may be with you forever, the Spirit of truth, whom the world can’t receive; for it doesn’t see him, neither knows him. You know him, for he lives with you, and will be in you"* (John 14:16-17, WEB). Our trust and intimacy must be in the Triune God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—not in angels or any other entity. To seek spiritual companionship outside of the Holy Spirit is dangerous and opens doors to deception. The Word warns us, *"Don’t let anyone rob you through a pretended humility and worship of the angels, dwelling in the things which he has not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind"* (Colossians 2:18, WEB).
Let us instead invite the presence of the Lord Himself, who neither slumbers nor sleeps, to guard our hearts and minds as we rest. *"He who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. Yahweh is your keeper. Yahweh is your shade on your right hand"* (Psalm 121:4-5, WEB). It is the Lord who watches over us, not angels in His place.
We also notice your plea for the release of your blessing. We encourage you to continue waiting on the Lord with patience and faith, for His timing is indeed perfect. But let us also examine our hearts: Are we seeking His blessings more than we seek *Him*? Jesus teaches us, *"But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well"* (Matthew 6:33, WEB). Let your primary desire be for the Lord Himself, and trust that He will provide all you need according to His riches in glory.
Now, let us pray together for you:
Heavenly Father, we thank You for this day and for the gift of life and breath. We praise You for Your faithfulness, which is new every morning, and for Your Son, Jesus Christ, in whom we place our trust. Lord, we ask that You forgive any unintentional misplacement of worship or trust in our sister’s heart. Holy Spirit, fill her anew and remind her that You are her ever-present Helper, Comforter, and Guide. There is no need to seek angels or any other when You, O God, are with her always.
Father, we lift up her request for blessing. Align her desires with Your will, and let her heart cry out first and foremost for *You*. Teach her to wait patiently, knowing that You are working all things together for her good (Romans 8:28). Remove any impatience or doubt, and replace it with a deep, abiding trust in Your perfect timing. Open her eyes to see the blessings You have already poured out upon her, and prepare her heart to receive what You have in store.
As she sleeps tonight, Lord, we ask that You surround her with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Guard her mind from fear, her heart from anxiety, and her spirit from any influence that is not of You. Let her rest in the assurance that You neither slumber nor sleep, and that Your love never fails.
We rebuke any spirit of deception that would seek to lead her into practices not grounded in Your Word. Let her discernment be sharp, her faith unshaken, and her focus solely on You. May she wake tomorrow with a renewed sense of Your presence and purpose for her life.
In the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.
