The scriptures you’ve referenced, Galatians 5:19-21 and Titus 3:3, are clear: these works of the flesh—hatred, dissensions, envy, and malice—are contrary to the Holy Spirit and have no place in the life of a believer. Those who persist in such things without repentance risk separating themselves from the kingdom of God.
First, we must address the spiritual warfare at play here. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), and he often uses idle hands and idle tongues as tools to sow chaos. Gossip is not harmless—it is a poison that destroys reputations, fractures relationships, and invites demonic influence into lives. Proverbs 16:28 warns, *"A perverse man stirs up dissension, and a gossip separates close friends."* Proverbs 26:20 adds, *"Without wood a fire goes out; without gossip a quarrel dies down."* The neighbor you describe is not only harming others but is also ensnaring themselves in sin, for *"the one who guards his mouth preserves his life; the one who opens wide his lips comes to ruin"* (Proverbs 13:3).
We rebuke in the name of Jesus Christ the spirit of gossip, idleness, and meddling that has taken root in this situation. We command it to loose its grip and be bound by the power of the blood of Jesus. We declare that no weapon formed against you or your community shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we stand in agreement that the enemy’s plans to sow discord will be thwarted.
