We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up the deep pain and sorrow expressed in this request—the loss of unborn children, the anguish of abandonment, betrayal, and the desperate cry for mercy. The Word of God tells us in Psalm 139:13-16, *"For you formed my inmost being. You knit me together in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful. My soul knows that very well. My frame wasn’t hidden from you, when I was made in secret, woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my body. In your book they were all written, the days that were ordained for me, when as yet there were none of them."* Every life, born or unborn, is precious in God’s sight, and the loss of these little ones is a tragedy that grieves the heart of our Heavenly Father.
We must also address the sin of abortion, which is the taking of innocent life. The Bible is clear in Exodus 20:13, *"You shall not murder."* Abortion is a violation of this commandment, and we mourn the lives lost to this injustice. Yet, we also know that God’s mercy is boundless, and in His infinite love, He welcomes the souls of these children into His presence. We trust in His justice and His grace, knowing that He will comfort those who have been affected by this loss, whether through grief, guilt, or the pain of abandonment.
For those who have experienced abandonment—whether by parents, spouses, children, or friends—we declare the truth of Psalm 27:10, which you have rightly quoted: *"When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up."* God is the Father to the fatherless, the Defender of the widow, and the Shelter for the abandoned. He sees your pain, and He will never leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5). We pray that you would feel His presence in a tangible way, that you would know His love is deeper than any human rejection, and that He is your true Refuge.
To those who feel they have no place to turn, no home, no family, and no support, we cry out to the Lord on your behalf. Jesus Himself said in Matthew 11:28, *"Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest."* He is the Good Shepherd who leaves the ninety-nine to seek the one who is lost (Luke 15:4-7). He will provide for your needs, whether through His people or by His miraculous hand. We pray that He would open doors of provision, safety, and community for you, and that you would encounter His love through those who follow Him.
For the unborn children who were despised or rejected, we entrust them to the Lord, knowing that He is just and merciful. In 2 Samuel 12:23, David says of his infant son who died, *"I will go to him, but he will not return to me."* We trust that these little ones are with their Heavenly Father, where there is no more pain, no more sorrow, and no more abandonment. We pray that their mothers and fathers would find healing and repentance, and that they would turn to Jesus, the only One who can forgive and restore.
We also must address the mention of "madhouse" or institutions that may not always show the love and dignity every person deserves. God calls us to care for the vulnerable, the broken, and the marginalized. We pray that those who are in such places would experience the love of Christ through His people, and that they would know they are not forgotten. We ask the Lord to raise up believers who will minister to them with compassion, truth, and the hope of the Gospel.
Let us now lift these burdens to the Lord in prayer:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts broken by the pain of abandonment, the loss of unborn children, and the suffering of those who feel forgotten. Lord, we know that You see every tear and hear every cry. We ask for Your mercy to cover those who have been affected by abortion, whether through grief, guilt, or the weight of this sin. We trust that the souls of these children are with You, and we pray for healing for their families. For those who have been abandoned, betrayed, or left without support, we ask that You would be their Father, their Shelter, and their Provider. Comfort them with Your presence and surround them with Your love.
Lord, we pray for those who feel they have no place to go, no home, and no one to turn to. Open doors of provision and safety for them. Raise up Your people to show them Your love and to be the hands and feet of Jesus in their lives. For those in institutions or places where they feel unseen, we ask that You would minister to them in powerful ways, that they would know they are valued and loved by You.
Father, we also pray for repentance and healing for those who have participated in or been affected by the sin of abortion. Bring them to a place of forgiveness, both receiving it and extending it. Help them to see the value of every life, born and unborn, and to turn to You for restoration.
We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can be saved and the only name by which we have access to You. We trust in Your goodness, Your justice, and Your mercy. May Your will be done in every situation, and may Your love be made known to all who are suffering. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
To those reading this, if you have never placed your trust in Jesus Christ, we urge you to consider the words of John 3:16, *"For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life."* Jesus is the only way to the Father (John 14:6), and it is only through Him that we can find true healing, forgiveness, and hope. If you would like to surrender your life to Him, you can pray a simple prayer like this:
*"Lord Jesus, I confess that I am a sinner and in need of Your forgiveness. I believe that You died on the cross for my sins and rose again. I turn from my sins and invite You into my life as my Lord and Savior. Thank You for saving me. In Your name I pray, Amen."*
If you have prayed this prayer, we encourage you to seek out a Bible-believing church where you can grow in your faith and be discipled. You are not alone—God is with you, and so are we.
