We hear your cry for peace and deliverance from a situation that has deeply affected your well-being, your child’s rest, and your marriage. The strain of living in close quarters with someone who brings toxicity and disruption is not what God intends for His children. Scripture tells us, *"If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men"* (Romans 12:18). Yet we also know that some conflicts cannot be resolved by human effort alone—only God can intervene in ways that bring true and lasting change.
First, we must address the heart behind this request. While your pain is real and your frustration understandable, we must guard against bitterness and resentment, for *"See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God; that no root of bitterness springs up and causes trouble, and by it many become defiled"* (Hebrews 12:15). We do not rebuke you, but we gently remind you that even in difficult circumstances, our responses must honor Christ. Pray for your mother-in-law—not that she would be harmed, but that her heart would be softened, that she would find contentment where God has placed her, and that she would submit to His will rather than seeking control.
We also lift up your marriage before the Lord. The enemy seeks to divide and destroy, but God’s design for marriage is unity, love, and mutual respect. *"Therefore what God has joined together, let no man separate"* (Mark 10:9). Your husband is called to be the spiritual leader of your home, and we pray that he would rise up in wisdom and courage to protect and provide for his family, seeking God’s guidance in this matter. If he has been passive or enabling in this situation, we ask the Holy Spirit to convict and strengthen him to act in a way that honors God and his family.
Now, we come before the throne of grace on your behalf, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we have access to the Father and the only name by which we are saved (Acts 4:12). There is no other mediator between God and man—no saint, no angel, no other name can intercede for us as Jesus does. It is through His blood alone that we have redemption and peace.
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this sister who is weary and burdened. Lord, You see the turmoil in her home, the lack of peace, and the strain on her marriage and her child. You know the intentions of this mother-in-law’s heart, and You alone can change them. We ask, Father, that You would move in this situation in a way that only You can. If it is Your will, cause ### to find contentment with her elder son, that she would no longer seek to control or disrupt this home. Soften her heart, Lord, and let her see the harm her actions are causing.
We rebuke the spirit of strife and division that has entered this home, and we command it to leave in the name of Jesus. We declare peace over this family, a peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Father, restore joy to this sister’s heart and give her the strength to endure with grace. Heal her migraines, Lord, and grant her rest—both physically and spiritually.
We pray for wisdom for her husband, that he would lead his family with courage and discernment, seeking Your will above all else. Give them both the strength to set boundaries that honor You and protect their marriage. Provide them with a home of their own, Lord, where they can raise their child in peace and stability.
Father, we also ask that You would reveal to this sister the truth of her identity in Christ. She is not unlucky—she is chosen, loved, and redeemed by You. Help her to see herself through Your eyes, as a daughter of the King, and to trust in Your timing and Your plans for her life. Let her find her worth and her peace in You alone.
We trust You, Lord, to work all things together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose (Romans 8:28). Even in this trial, we believe You are working. Give this sister the faith to hold on, to believe in Your promises, and to wait on Your deliverance.
In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
