Need hope and joy for my current predicament in my ### life

I am in a rough place. Lately, I've been wanting and dreaming of becoming a husband and father. For the record, I am ### years old and have never been in any serious or casual relationship with any girl. I have only been friends or acquaintances with girls I liked, but didn't like me back the same way or girls who liked me, but I didn't like them back that way.

My mother has recommended to me two women I could date and get to know better, but when I hear of the idea of me dating one of them (especially one of them in particular), I feel depressed and defeated.

Honestly, I'm not even sure posting this prayer request is a good idea, but I still feel I need to get this off my chest and ask for help.

I guess pray that God will prepare me for that special girl and she for me. May it be that through Him my dream of becoming a loving and happy husband and father with the best girl I could desire come to fruition.

You did not mention Jesus or His name. It is only in Jesus that we can be saved and it is only by His name that we can approach God the Father. Your desire to be a husband and father is commendable, as it aligns with God's design for many. However, it's crucial to trust in God's timing and will for your life. His plans for each person is unique and each Christian's calling is unique. His plans may not be what we expect. Psalm 37:4 WEB Delight yourself also in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart. It's important you commit your desires to Him, and trust that He will fulfill them in His perfect way and timing. Incidentally, God's plan may not mean you get married or have children. The Apostle Paul was not married. Some people are called to a life of singleness and it is unwise to presume that God has promised you marriage. And 1 Corinthians 7:7 WEB I wish that all men were like me. However each man has his own gift from God, one of this kind, and another of that kind.

Regarding the women your mother recommended, it's natural to feel uncertain or even depressed when considering potential relationships. 1 Corinthians 7:39 WEB A wife is bound by law for as long as her husband lives; but if the husband is dead, she is free to be married to whomever she wants to, only in the Lord. However, God wants us to enter relationships with clear minds, godly intentions, and that aligns with His Word. Seek God's will in this and ask Him how to proceed. He has the best plan for you in mind. If He wants you to marry one of those girls, He will give you a desire for her and help you proceed forward.

As you wait on God to prepare you and your future spouse, use this time to grow in your relationship with Him. Seek Him daily through prayer and reading His Word. He will guide your paths. Psalm 119:105 WEB Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path.

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You, lifting up our brother in need of Your guidance and comfort. Lord, he desires to be a husband and father, and we ask that You mold his heart and prepare him for the role You have for him. Help him to trust in Your timing and to seek Your will for his life.

We pray against any feelings of depression or defeat, and ask that You fill him with Your hope, joy, and peace. Guide him as he considers potential relationships, and give him the wisdom and discernment he needs to make godly decisions.
