We join with you in lifting up our national and world leaders before the throne of God, for it is written, *"I exhort therefore, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and givings of thanks be made for all men: for kings and all who are in high places, that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the truth."* (1 Timothy 2:1-4, WEB). Your prayer is deeply aligned with Scripture, and we stand with you in these petitions, knowing that our God is sovereign over all nations, leaders, and authorities. He raises up kings and deposed them (Daniel 2:21), and no authority exists except by His appointment (Romans 13:1). This is a profound truth that should both humble and encourage us as we intercede.
We also take note of how you have grounded this prayer in the name and authority of Jesus Christ, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). It is only through Him that we have boldness and access to the Father (Ephesians 3:12), and we commend you for acknowledging this foundational truth. Too often, prayers are offered without recognizing that our access to God is solely through the mediatory work of Christ. You have set a godly example in this, and we pray that others will follow it, understanding that *"no one comes to the Father, except through me"* (John 14:6, WEB).
Your request for godly alliances among free nations is wise and necessary in these times. We see the rise of evil alliances that seek to suppress truth, restrict the preaching of the Gospel, and promote wickedness under the guise of progress. But we know that *"the kings of the earth take a stand, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his Anointed"* (Psalm 2:2, WEB). Yet, the Lord sits in the heavens and laughs (Psalm 2:4). His purposes cannot be thwarted. We pray that He would frustrate the plans of the wicked and establish righteous leadership that honors Him. May He grant our leaders the wisdom of Solomon, the courage of David, and the humility of Christ. Let them be like streams of water in the hand of the Lord, directed by His sovereign will (Proverbs 21:1).
We also lift up the urgent need for the eradication of false prophecy and teaching, which has infiltrated even the church in these last days. Jesus warned, *"Take heed that no one leads you astray. For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will lead many astray"* (Matthew 24:4-5, WEB). False teachers twist the Scriptures to their own destruction (2 Peter 3:16), and their influence has led many away from the truth. We pray for a great awakening—a return to the unadulterated Gospel of Jesus Christ, where repentance and faith in Him alone are preached without compromise. May the Lord raise up bold preachers who will *"contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints"* (Jude 1:3, WEB).
The furtherance of free speech and the publication of the Gospel are critical in these days. The enemy seeks to silence the truth, but we declare that *"the word of God isn’t chained!"* (2 Timothy 2:9, WEB). We pray for open doors, even as the apostle Paul did: *"praying together for us also, that God may open to us a door for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds"* (Colossians 4:3, WEB). May the Lord break every chain that seeks to bind the proclamation of His Kingdom. Let the Gospel go forth with power, turning hearts to Christ and making disciples of all nations, as He commanded (Matthew 28:18-20).
We thank God for the leaders who seek to govern with integrity and according to His word. Even when leaders do not acknowledge Him, we know that God uses them for His purposes, as He did with Cyrus (Isaiah 45:1) and Nebuchadnezzar (Daniel 4:34-35). We pray that those in authority would be surrounded by godly counselors, that their hearts would be turned toward wisdom, and that they would recognize the futility of resisting the Lord. *"The king’s heart is in the Lord’s hand like the water streams. He turns it wherever he wants"* (Proverbs 21:1, WEB). May they be instruments of His justice and mercy.
We also confess, as you have, that God is working all things after the counsel of His will (Ephesians 1:11). Even in the chaos of this world, He is not surprised or overwhelmed. His plans cannot be shaken, and His Kingdom will ultimately prevail. *"The Lord brings the counsel of the nations to nothing. He makes the thoughts of the peoples to be of no effect. The counsel of the Lord stands fast forever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations"* (Psalm 33:10-11, WEB). This truth should fill us with hope and boldness as we pray.
As we put on the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-13), we ask for His protection over these leaders—both physically and spiritually. The battle is not against flesh and blood but against principalities and powers in high places. We pray for angelic reinforcement, as seen in Daniel 10:12-13, where the prince of Persia withstood the angel sent to Daniel until Michael came to assist. May the Lord dispatch His heavenly hosts to war on behalf of His people and His purposes. *"For he will give his angels charge over you, to guard you in all your ways"* (Psalm 91:11, WEB). We also pray for protection over the church, that we would not be deceived or intimidated but would stand firm in the faith.
Finally, we pray for a spirit of repentance to sweep across the nations. Let the people turn from their wicked ways and seek the face of God (2 Chronicles 7:14). May the Lord pour out His Spirit in such a way that *"the earth will be full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea"* (Isaiah 11:9, WEB). We long for the day when every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord (Philippians 2:10-11).
**Our Prayer:**
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude and urgency, lifting up the leaders of our nations and the world. You alone are sovereign, and we trust in Your wisdom and power. Lord, we ask that You grant our leaders wisdom that comes from above—wisdom that is pure, peaceable, gentle, and full of mercy (James 3:17). Remove from them every spirit of pride, corruption, and deceit, and replace it with humility and a fear of You.
We pray for godly alliances to be strengthened among nations that honor You. Frustrate the plans of the wicked and expose every hidden agenda that seeks to undermine Your truth. Let Your Gospel go forth unhindered, breaking every chain that seeks to silence it. Raise up bold preachers and missionaries who will proclaim Christ without fear, making disciples of all nations.
Protect our leaders, Lord, both physically and spiritually. Surround them with Your angels and guard them from the schemes of the enemy. Let them be channels of Your will, directing the affairs of men according to Your purposes. We also pray for the church—to stand firm in the faith, to discern truth from error, and to be a light in the darkness.
Father, we ask for a great harvest of souls. Turn the hearts of the people toward You in repentance and faith. Let Your Kingdom come and Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. We pray all these things in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who alone is the way, the truth, and the life. Amen.
