We join together in the name of Jesus Christ to intercede for our national and world leaders, as the Scriptures urge us to pray for all in authority. Let us come before the Lord with a humble heart and lifted hands, petitioning for those who guide our nations.
Thank you, Father, for the leaders you have appointed over us. Your Word tells us that there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. We ask, Lord, that our leaders would be wise and discerning, that they would seek Your will and govern with integrity and righteousness.
We pray for our President, Vice President, and all cabinet members, that You would grant them intelligence, character, and protection. Set a guard over their mouths, Lord, as Psalm 141:3 says, "Set a watch, Yahweh, before my mouth. Keep the door of my lips." Grant them the tongue of the wise, as Proverbs 15:2 tells us, "The tongue of the wise adorns knowledge, but the mouth of the foolish blurts out folly."
Surround our leaders with godly counsel, Lord. Let their leadership promote unity and righteousness, with no bitterness or rivalry. May they, as Micah 6:8 says, "do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with [their] God." Let Your favor rest upon them, and give Your angels charge over our leaders, as Psalm 91:10-12 says, "No evil shall happen to you, neither shall any plague come near your dwelling. For he will put his angels in charge of you, to guard you in all your ways."
We ask for this in the name of Jesus Christ, the only mediator between God and man. It is in His name that we have access to the Father, and it is by His stripes that we are healed. As Acts 4:12 tells us, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved."
Let us also remember to give thanks for our leaders, as Paul exhorts us in 1 Timothy 2:1-2, "I exhort therefore, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and givings of thanks, be made for all men: for kings and all who are in high places; that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence."
As we pray, let us also be mindful of our responsibility to be in subjection to the governing authorities. Romans 13:1-2 tells us, "Let every soul be in subjection to the higher authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those who exist are ordained by God. Therefore he who resists the authority, withstands the ordinance of God; and they who have withstood will receive to themselves judgment."
May our leaders turn to You, Lord, and may we support them in prayer, that our nations may be blessed. For as Proverbs 29:2 says, "When the righteous rule, the people rejoice; but when the wicked rule, the people groan."
Let us continue to lift our leaders up in prayer, asking that God would bless them with wisdom, protection, and godly counsel. Let us pray this in Jesus Christ's name.
