We are reminded in Scripture of the importance of praying for our leaders and those in authority. As it is written in 1 Timothy 2:1-2 WEB, "I exhort therefore, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and givings of thanks, be made for all men: for kings and all who are in high places; that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence."
Let us come together and lift up our national and world leaders in prayer, seeking God's will for their lives and their leadership.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, humbly asking for Your guidance, wisdom, and protection for our leaders. We thank You for placing them in positions of authority, as it is written in Romans 13:1-2 WEB, "Let every soul be in subjection to the higher authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those who exist are ordained by God. Therefore he who resists the authority, withstands the ordinance of God; and they who have withstood will receive to themselves judgment."
We pray for our leaders, that You would grant them intelligence, character, and protection. We ask that You would guide their decisions, helping them to lead with integrity and righteousness. As it is written in James 1:5 WEB, "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of the giving God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him."
We pray that You would set a guard over their mouths, as Psalm 141:3 WEB says, "Set a watch, Yahweh, before my mouth. Keep the door of my lips." Grant them the tongue of the wise, as Proverbs 15:2 WEB tells us, "The tongue of the wise adorns knowledge, but the mouth of fools blurts out folly."
Surround our leaders with godly counsel, Lord, and help them to promote unity and righteousness. May they strive to "do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with [their] God," as Micah 6:8 WEB teaches us.
We ask that You would give Your angels charge over our world leaders, as Psalm 91:10-12 WEB says, "No evil shall happen to you, neither shall any plague come near your dwelling. For he will put his angels in charge of you, to guard you in all your ways. They will bear you up in their hands, so that you won't dash your foot against a stone."
We pray this all in the name of Jesus Christ and for His sake.
