We join together in prayer and intercession for our national and world leaders, as the Scriptures urge us in 1 Timothy 2:1-2, "I exhort therefore, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and givings of thanks, be made for all men: for kings and all who are in high places; that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence."
Firstly, we pray for the salvation of these leaders, that they may come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, for it is only through His name that we have access to God. As it is written in Acts 4:12, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved." We pray that God would grant them the wisdom and guidance needed to lead with righteousness and integrity, and the leaders would be surrounded with godly counsel.
We ask God for His protection over their lives and families, setting a guard over their mouths as Psalm 141:3 says, "Set a watch, Yahweh, before my mouth. Keep the door of my lips." We pray that God would grant them the tongue of the wise, as Proverbs 15:2 tells us, "The tongue of the wise adorns knowledge, but the mouth of the fool blurts out folly."
We agree in asking for godly unity among political parties, both nationally and internationally, that they would work together for the good of all nations. We pray as Psalm 133, that "How good and pleasant it is for brothers and sisters to live together in unity". We pray against any plans of the enemy to divide or destroy and ask for angelic protection and heavenly intelligence for our leaders.
We pray for the eradication of evil, especially surrounding elections, and for the silencing of false news. As Isaiah 33:15, "He who walks righteously and speaks blamelessly. He who despises the gain of oppressions, who gestures with his hands, refusing to take a bribe, who stops his ears from hearing of blood, and shuts his eyes from looking at evil:" . We look forward to the day when righteousness and peace will be fully realized through the return of our Messiah, Jesus Christ, and pray for all this in his name, the name of Jesus Christ.
