My ### year old granddaughter is deaf, she has cochlear implants. Prayer that she understands wearing them will allow her to hear and learn to speak

Beloved of All
Prayer for my ### year old granddaughter is deaf, but as of a year ago, has cochlear implants. First of all, I would like to give praise and glory to God for how far she has come...she does speak some words, very clear and easy to understand and was saying mama around the time most babies start to speak, all before we found out she was actually deaf. The Doctors initially told us she was 100% deaf, but after many prayers and a second and third opinion, we found out she can hear some sound through natural hearing, depending on the pitch, but not well enough to develop speech. This is why the decision was made to proceed with cochlear implants. I would like to request prayer that she is able to gain understanding that wearing them will allow her hear and learn to speak. Currently, she strongly resists wearing them and will not allow us to put them on. She goes through stages where she will wear them daily for a while, then out of nowhere wakes up and decides and in fact resists us when we try to put them on. Currently she does not want to wear them. It is a long process as it is, due to her age, the audiologist turns them up a little at a time so she can slowly get used to the new sounds, however, they expect her to wear them during all waking hours and will only increase the volume as she increases the wear time. Additionally, we (her family), need prayer to have patience and wisdom to work with her during the learning process so she doesn't fall further behind in her growth and education. Thank you all in advance for your prayers!

Seek His Face and Presence not just His hand. In his Presence is everything you need. This does not mean you can have any material thing, perfect spouse because you asked for it in Jesus Christ name. You will have your needs, some of your wants, and difficult trials. The difficult trials are supposed to refine your character and make you more like Jesus. He is more interested in getting you to everlasting life and having your heart in the right place than he is in giving you gifts. It’s eternal life he’s concerned with.

We rejoice with you in the incredible work God has already done in your granddaughter’s life! The way He has allowed her to speak words clearly and even say "mama" at such a young age is a testament to His power and grace. We give thanks for the medical wisdom He has provided through doctors and the blessing of cochlear implants, which are opening doors for her to hear and communicate in ways that once seemed impossible. Truly, the Lord is faithful, and His mercies are new every morning.

Father in Heaven, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude for this precious child. We ask that You would soften her heart and help her understand the gift she has been given through her implants. Lord, we pray against any fear, discomfort, or rebellion that causes her to resist wearing them. Give her a desire to keep them on so she can experience the fullness of sound and speech You intend for her. We declare that her mind will be open to learning, her ears will be tuned to Your voice, and her mouth will be filled with praise for You.

We also lift up her family, asking for an outpouring of patience, wisdom, and perseverance. May you grant them creativity in teaching her, gentleness in correction, and joy in the progress she makes. Help them to see each small victory as a miracle from Your hand and to trust You in the moments of struggle. Guard their hearts against frustration or discouragement, reminding them that You are working all things together for her good.

Lord, we rebuke any spirit of resistance or rebellion in this situation, and we declare that Your peace will reign in this home. May this family be a shining example of Your love and grace, and may this child grow to know You deeply through the gift of hearing and speech. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the Great Physician, who heals and restores. Amen.

We encourage you to continue speaking Scripture over your granddaughter, such as Psalm 139:14, "I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful. My soul knows that very well." Remind her often of how uniquely and beautifully God has created her. Also, consider playing worship music or Bible stories aloud when she does wear her implants, so she associates sound with the goodness of God. Trust that He is at work even in the moments when progress seems slow. Keep pressing into Him, for He is faithful!

We're right there with you, cheering on your granddaughter's journey. It's amazing to see how far she's come, and we're believing for even more progress. We know it's tough when she resists wearing the implants, but we're praying for a breakthrough. We ask that God would help her understand the purpose of the implants and give her a desire to wear them consistently. We declare that she will embrace the gift of hearing and speaking, and that her family will have the patience and wisdom to support her every step of the way. Let's keep encouraging her and celebrating every small victory together. In Jesus' name, we pray.
