Disciple of Prayer
My husband is living in ### he is drinking, smoking and living an adulterous life there having affairs and going to prostitutes he rarely calls us or sends money he doesn't want to take us to ### I want his heart and mind to change confess his sins and come closer to God and his family

We grieve with you over the brokenness in your marriage, and we stand with you in prayer for your husband’s repentance and restoration. The pain you are experiencing is deep, and we want you to know that God sees your tears and hears your cries. The enemy has sought to destroy your marriage through sin, but we declare that no weapon formed against your family will prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Your husband’s choices—drunkenness, adultery, and neglect—are grievous sins before the Lord, and they bring destruction not only to himself but to your family. Yet, we serve a God who specializes in redemption, and we will not cease to pray for his heart to turn back to the Lord and to you.

The Word of God is clear about the seriousness of these sins. Drunkenness and sexual immorality are works of the flesh that will keep a person from inheriting the Kingdom of God (Galatians 5:19-21). Adultery is a betrayal not only of you but of God Himself, as marriage is a covenant that reflects Christ’s relationship with the Church (Hebrews 13:4, Ephesians 5:31-32). Proverbs 6:32 warns that a man who commits adultery “destroys his own soul.” But take heart, sister, for the same God who warns of judgment is rich in mercy. If your husband repents, there is forgiveness and cleansing in Jesus’ name (1 John 1:9). We pray that the Holy Spirit will convict him deeply of his sin and lead him to true repentance—turning away from his wickedness and turning toward God with a broken and contrite heart (Psalm 51:17).

We also urge you to seek the Lord’s strength and wisdom for yourself during this trial. You cannot change your husband’s heart—that is the work of the Holy Spirit—but you can stand firm in faith, trusting God to fight this battle. Do not grow weary in praying for him, even when it feels hopeless. Remember the persistence of the widow in Luke 18:1-8, who kept coming to the judge until she received justice. How much more will our Heavenly Father, who loves you and your husband, respond to your faithful prayers? Cling to the promise in James 5:16: “The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective.”

As you wait on the Lord, guard your own heart from bitterness or despair. Forgiveness does not mean excusing his sin, but it means releasing the burden of vengeance to God, who judges righteously (Romans 12:19). Surround yourself with a community of believers who can support you, pray with you, and hold you accountable to walk in godliness. If you have not already, we encourage you to seek biblical counseling from your church to help you navigate this season with wisdom and grace.

Now, let us pray together for your husband and your marriage:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this sister and her husband to Your throne of grace. Lord, You hate divorce (Malachi 2:16), and You desire for marriages to reflect Your covenant love. We ask You to break the chains of sin that have bound our brother—chains of drunkenness, lust, adultery, and hardness of heart. Father, convict him deeply by Your Holy Spirit. Let him feel the weight of his sin and the emptiness of his rebellion. Bring him to his knees in repentance, that he may turn from his wicked ways and seek Your face with all his heart.

Lord, we pray that You would remove the veil from his eyes, that he may see the destruction he is bringing upon himself and his family. Soften his heart, O God, and draw him back to You. Let him remember the vows he made before You and the love he once had for his wife and children. Restore to him a right mind and a willing spirit to obey Your Word. Break the power of addiction and sexual sin in his life, and fill him with a hunger for righteousness.

Father, we also lift up this sister who is faithfully standing in the gap. Strengthen her, Lord, and fill her with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Guard her heart from despair and bitterness. Provide for her and her children’s every need—financially, emotionally, and spiritually. Surround her with Your people who will uphold her in prayer and walk beside her in this trial.

We declare that no scheme of the enemy will prevail against this marriage. We bind the spirits of adultery, drunkenness, and deception in the name of Jesus, and we loose the power of the Holy Spirit to bring conviction, repentance, and restoration. Lord, we ask that You would reunite this family in a way that brings glory to Your name. Let this testimony be one of Your redeeming grace and mercy.

We pray all these things in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who alone can save and transform. Amen.

Finally, sister, hold fast to hope. The God who raised Christ from the dead is able to bring life to what seems dead in your marriage. Keep praying, keep trusting, and keep walking in obedience to Him. He is faithful, and He will complete the work He has begun in you and your husband (Philippians 1:6). We are standing with you in faith, believing for a miracle.

Oh, dear sister, we're right here with you, feeling your pain and sharing your burden. It's heartbreaking to see the destruction sin is causing in your marriage, but remember, God sees your tears and hears your cries. He's not surprised by your husband's actions, and He's not distant from your struggle. In fact, He's right there in the midst of it, ready to redeem and restore.

We're praying for your husband, that the Holy Spirit would convict him deeply and lead him to true repentance. We're asking God to break the chains of sin that have bound him - drunkenness, adultery, and hardness of heart. We're believing for a mighty transformation in his life, a turning away from his wicked ways and a turning towards God with a broken and contrite heart.

But we're also praying for you, dear sister. We're asking God to strengthen you and fill you with His peace. We're believing for provision for you and your children, and for a community of believers to surround you, support you, and hold you accountable.

We're declaring that no weapon formed against your marriage will prosper. We're binding the spirits of adultery, drunkenness, and deception, and loosing the power of the Holy Spirit to bring conviction, repentance, and restoration.

And we're reminding you to hold fast to hope. God is faithful, and He's able to bring life to what seems dead. Keep praying, keep trusting, and keep walking in obedience to Him. We're standing with you in faith, believing for a miracle in your marriage.

Let's keep lifting this up to the Lord together, shall we?
