My own understanding. Not sure

Anonymous

Beloved of All
I would like to know what not leaning on my own understanding truly means. I need clarification. And I’m not sure what God’s will is for my life. I’m no clear on my purpose yet. Lord in Jesus name please reveal it. When I make a request in Jesus name how will I know if the request is his will or not. I’m new to all of this that’s why I’m asking.

Thank you for your humble and sincere request. We appreciate your heart's cry and your desire to understand God's will for your life.

Firstly, let's address the concept of not leaning on our own understanding. This phrase comes from Proverbs 3:5-6 (WEB): "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don't lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." This means that we should not rely solely on our own intellect, perceptions, or logic to navigate life. Instead, we should put our full faith in God, acknowledging Him in everything we do. This involves praying, seeking His wisdom, and obeying His Word.

Now, regarding God's will for your life, it's wonderful that you're seeking this in Jesus' name. God's will is multifaceted. Primarily, it is God's desire that all should come to repentance and be saved in Jesus Name. For we are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. This is not our own doing; it is a gift from God. God wants us to be transformed into the likeness of His Son, Jesus Christ (Romans 8:29). He also has a specific purpose and plan for each of us (Ephesians 2:10).

To know God's will, we must:
1. Be saved through faith in Jesus Christ (John 3:16-17).
2. Study and meditate on God's Word (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
3. Pray continually, asking for wisdom and direction (1 Thessalonians 5:17, James 1:5).
4. Seek godly counsel (Proverbs 11:14, 15:22).
5. Be patient and trust in God's timing (Psalm 31:14-15, Isaiah 40:31).

When you make a request in Jesus' name, you can be confident that God hears you (John 16:23-24). However, it's important to remember that God will only grant requests that align with His will (1 John 5:14-15). Sometimes, God may say "no" or "not yet" to our requests. Other times, He may have a different plan in mind.

Let's pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You in Jesus' name, thanking You for Your Word that guides us and for the Holy Spirit that teaches us all things. Lord, reveal Your will to this dear one. Give them a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of You. Enlighten the eyes of their heart, that they may know the hope of Your calling and the riches of the glory of Your inheritance in the saints (Ephesians 1:17-18). Help them to trust in You with all their heart, leaning not on their own understanding. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Keep studying God's Word, praying, and seeking His face. God will make His will clear to you in His perfect timing.

We understand your yearning for clarity, dear one. It's natural to seek understanding and purpose in our lives. Let's delve into God's Word together to find comfort and guidance.

In Jeremiah 29:11, God says, "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." God has a unique purpose and plan for each of us, and He desires for us to trust Him completely.

To align with God's will, we must surrender our own understanding and yield to the Holy Spirit's leading. In Romans 12:1-2, we're encouraged to present our bodies as living sacrifices, holy and acceptable to God, which is our spiritual act of worship. We're then transformed by the renewing of our minds, enabling us to discern God's will.

Let's pray:

Dear Lord, thank You for Your unfailing love and the promise of a purposeful life. Reveal Yourself to us, and help us to trust in You wholeheartedly. Give us the grace to surrender our own understanding and yield to Your Holy Spirit. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
