Disciple of Prayer
Lord please help, my mother is again in a hospital. They gave her beans for lunch and she must take ### different diets (diabetes, no gallbladder and gastritis). Blood sugar spikes. Also they gave her in the hospital heavy urinary infection antibiotics oral therapy and this is catastrophe for her stomach to. My brother should say this to doctors but he always skips "those details". I don't know what to do, like everybody is standing against me. People are here greedy, superficial and unprofessional. This is a second senior home. My brother says that it doesn't look good with mom. He has fatalistic prognosis and bunch of arguments that it is the end. But God. Please pray that God will intervene and heal her from dementia, consequences of stroke, diabetes, depression and some heart/blood pressure problems...lord i am afraid...when she gets better i don't know where to put her to be safe. She needs constant supervision but senior homes are bad as i see...

Benediction For Doctors
God calls doctors to heal with skill and faith so they must trust Him in their work.
The Ministry of Gratitude
True gratitude for Christ’s healing moves us to serve Him immediately in everyday acts of love.
Sickness in the Mansion
God allows suffering to push us toward a better life and calls us to trust His healing power.
We hear the heaviness in your heart as you watch your mother suffer again in the hospital and we stand with you before the Lord seeking His mercy and intervention together in Jesus' name.

We understand how distressing it is to see her given food that harms her, beans that spike her blood sugar and irritate her stomach when she lives with diabetes and without a gallbladder and with gastritis, and to see her given oral antibiotics for a urinary infection that further wounds her stomach. We understand your frustration that important details are being skipped when speaking to the doctors and that you feel alone and opposed, seeing greed and superficial and unprofessional care in this second senior home. We also hear your brother's words that it does not look good and that this is the end, and your own fear about where she can be safe when she needs constant supervision and you have seen how poor the homes can be.

We want to remind you that while people may fail and prognoses may sound fatalistic, God has the final word. We do not put our trust ultimately in institutions or in human predictions but in the Lord who is our healer and our refuge. Psalm 103:2-3 says Praise Yahweh, my soul, and don't forget all his benefits, who forgives all your sins, who heals all your diseases. Jeremiah 30:17 says But I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh. Psalm 147:3 says He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. We also cling to Isaiah 41:10, Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.

We gently encourage you not to give in to a fatalistic spirit. Your brother may speak from what he sees, but we serve a God with whom nothing is impossible. At the same time we encourage you to be a strong and loving advocate for your mother in a practical way. When you feel that details are being skipped, we encourage you to write down clearly on paper her three diets and her conditions, diabetes, no gallbladder, gastritis, and her blood sugar concerns and her sensitivity to oral antibiotics, and to hand this directly to the nurses and doctors and ask to speak with the dietitian and the treating physician. Ask if there is a patient advocate or social worker in the hospital who can help ensure her needs are heard. Document what she is given and how she responds. Even when staff seem unprofessional, the Lord calls us to act with calm persistence and truth in love, trusting that He sees every detail. Proverbs 3:5-6 says Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don't lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

We also hear your fear about the future, where to place her to be safe when she needs constant supervision. This burden is very heavy to carry alone. Philippians 4:6-7 says In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Romans 8:28 says We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose. We pray that God will open a door for a safe and compassionate place or provision for her care, and give you wisdom and discernment beyond what any home can offer.

We notice you cried out to the Lord and to God for help, and we want to lovingly share that it is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father and that we are saved. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. It is by believing in Jesus, that He died for our sins and rose again, that we are forgiven and brought near to God. So we come to the Father in the name of Jesus, trusting His blood and His mercy.

We now pray together for your dear mother and for you and your brother.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this precious mother to You. You know her body and her history, her dementia, the consequences of her stroke, her diabetes, her depression, her heart and blood pressure struggles, her gastritis and her pain from infection and treatment. We ask You to lay Your healing hand upon her. We pray You would stabilize her blood sugar, heal her stomach lining, clear this urinary infection without further harm, calm her heart and regulate her blood pressure, and bring comfort to her mind where dementia and depression have taken hold. We pray You would restore what stroke has damaged as far as it is Your will, and give her peace and dignity. We pray for the doctors and nurses, that You would give them attentiveness and wisdom to respect her dietary needs and to choose treatments that do not destroy her stomach, and that they would listen carefully. We pray for her son who speaks fatalistically, that You would soften his heart, give him hope in You, and help him to advocate faithfully and accurately for his mother. We pray for this child who is carrying such fear and loneliness, that You would take away the spirit of fear and surround them with Your peace that passes all understanding, and show them they are not alone and not opposed by You. Guide the next steps for her care, provide a safe place with constant supervision where she will be treated with respect and competence, or provide other help and resources that honor You. Show us the path and make it straight. We ask all this in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and healer, amen.

We hear how heavy this feels, watching your mother back in the hospital and carrying so many worries at once. It is understandable to feel afraid and alone when the meals do not fit her diabetes, gallbladder and gastritis needs, the antibiotics are hard on her stomach, and you cannot count on your brother to pass along those details to the doctors. It makes sense that a second difficult experience with a senior home and your brother's bleak prognosis would leave you wondering where she can be safe when she needs constant care.

When care feels scattered, a clear, calm advocate can make a real difference, and you can advocate even without being there all day. What has helped others in your position is putting everything on one simple sheet to hand to the nurse: her three diets, diabetes with blood sugar spikes, no gallbladder, gastritis, the stomach trouble with the oral antibiotics, and any allergies or medicines. Ask the nurse to place it in her chart and to have the dietitian review it. If you can, ask for a brief call or meeting with the nurse yourself so the information does not have to go through your brother, and give him the same written sheet to read word for word if he is the one at the bedside.

You do not have to solve the long term placement today. Right now, focusing on getting her needs clearly heard in the hospital is enough. If you have a pastor, family friend or trusted person, invite them to stand with you in this.

Father, we lift this dear mother to You and ask for Your mercy and healing where only You can help. Give wisdom to her doctors and nurses, help her body tolerate treatment and her blood sugar to steady, and give her child peace, strength and clear help from others in the days ahead. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your sorrowful burden has been laid before the Lord and before His people, and we have heard the trembling of your heart as you watch over your mother in her affliction.

Anxiety itself unfits us to meet the difficulty, and you are compassed about with many cares, the hospital, the diets so needful for diabetes and gastritis and the lack of a gallbladder, the sharp medicine for infection which troubles her stomach, a brother who seems to forget details, and the heaviness of not knowing where she may safely dwell. Therefore hear the gracious word, Casting all your care upon Him, for He careth for you. It is right to tell the Lord about it, not merely to tell yourself about it in secret fear. Faith must overcome fear, and the promise stands, Fear not, thou worm Jacob, I will help thee, saith the Lord. Fear not, for I am with thee. It is Jesus Himself who whispers to His poor servant fallen as dead at His feet, Fear not.

Every man shall bear his own burden, and yours at this hour is heavy, to be a faithful child to a mother who needs constant supervision, to bear the burden of love for one whose mind and body are weakened by dementia and stroke and other infirmities. Yet there is another word, Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. You are not alone in this, though it feels as if all stand against you. The Lord Jesus bears the greater burden, and He calls you to come to Him and learn of Him, for His yoke is easy and His burden is light. When you come to Christ and lay down the old burden of sin and fear, He puts upon you His burden, and you shall prove it light as you abide with Him.

We know also that there is abundance of healing power in Jesus Christ. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations, and the least thing about Christ is healing. His fruit is sweet and nourishing, and even His leaves are full of healing virtue. As need is banished and infirmity is shut out where He reigns, so He is able still to send streams of healing down to men below. Healing and forgiveness are placed in happy conjunction, and both are bestowed on the Lord's people. When Jesus healed the sick of the palsy He said, Son, be of good cheer, thy sins are forgiven thee, and pardon and healing were one.

Let us pray together for your mother and for you.

O Lord our God, Thou Sun of Righteousness with healing in Thy wings, look in mercy upon this dear mother now in hospital. Thou knowest her frame, her diabetes and her stomach infirmity, her heart and blood pressure, the stroke and its consequences, the cloud upon her mind and the heaviness of depression. Lay Thy hand upon her and grant healing as it pleaseth Thee, ease her body, calm her spirits, and if it be Thy will restore her. Forgive her sins through the blood of Jesus Christ alone, for there is no other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved, and give her peace in Him. Give wisdom to physicians and nurses, that they may consider her needful diets and the tenderness of her stomach, and help this daughter to speak plainly and, if needful, to write down those details that they be not forgotten when her brother speaks with them. Give to the brother also a tender and watchful mind. For this anxious child who fears, say again, Fear not, I will help thee, and let her prove that Thou art near. Provide in Thy providence a safe place of constant and kind supervision when she leaves the hospital, for Thou art a Father to the fatherless and a keeper of those who cannot keep themselves. We cast all our care upon Thee, trusting Thy love and Thy power, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Be diligent, as the Lord enables you, to set down in writing the diets and medicines and infirmities, that you may place it into the hands of those who care for her, and ask gently but firmly that it be read. Commit the outcome to Him who numbers our days and who heals the broken in heart. He will not despise the prayer of the fearful, and He will bear you as you bear this burden in His strength.
