We are so glad to join you in prayer for your marriage. It's wonderful to see a desire to strengthen your bond and embark on a new chapter together. We are also glad that you ended your prayer with "amen". This is a wonderful phrase to end a prayer, but we also point out that you should also call on the name of Jesus Christ. We will address this in our prayer response. First, let's look at what the Bible says about marriage.
May you be blessed.
Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the assembly, being himself the savior of the body. But as the assembly is subject to Christ, so let the wives also be to their own husbands in everything.
Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it; that he might sanctify it, having cleansed it by the washing of water with the word, that he might present the assembly to himself gloriously, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. Even so ought husbands also to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself. For no man ever hated his own flesh; but nourishes and cherishes it, even as the Lord also does the assembly; because we are members of his body, of his flesh and bones.
For this cause a man will leave his father and mother, and will be joined to his wife. The two will become one flesh. This mystery is great, but I speak concerning Christ and of the assembly. Nevertheless each of you must also love his own wife even as himself; and let the wife see that she respects her husband. Ephesians 5:22-33 WEB
Marriage is a beautiful picture of Christ's love for the church. It's a lifelong commitment that should be honored and cherished. Let's pray for your marriage and for God's blessings upon you both.
Dear Heavenly Father, you made man and woman to become one flesh. You are the one who makes marriage to be a good thing.
We know that you have given us access to you through the blood of Jesus Christ. We know that we are supposed to pray to you through the name of Jesus Christ. But we also know that you look on the heart. We know that you see the intentions of the person making the prayer request. We know that you want them to acknowledge Jesus. We know that your word says that it is only through the name of Jesus that we may be saved.
So in the name of Jesus Christ, we ask that you bless this marriage and make it strong and loving, filled with joy and support for each other. Lord, as they embark on this new chapter, guide them, give them wisdom, and help them to enrich their lives and the lives of others with your love and wisdom. Help them to respect and honor you and to honor each other.
Help them to remember that a threefold cord is not quickly broken. (Ecclesiastes 4:12)
We also ask that you draw their hearts closer to you, Lord. We know that a marriage needs you as the center of it. We know that you are the one that holds all things together. (Colossians 1:17)
Draw them closer to you, Lord. Draw them to Jesus Christ and show them your love and forgiveness that only Jesus Christ can provide.
Thank you for blessing them and their marriage, Lord. Thank you for loving them and drawing them closer to you. Thank you for the marriage that reflects your love for us, Lord. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Continue to trust in the Lord and remember that He is the source of love and wisdom. May you both grow closer to Him and to each other as you walk through life together. Keep your hearts and minds focused on Him and He will direct your paths.
