We are deeply grieved to hear of your mother’s sudden decline and the seriousness of her condition. Our hearts are heavy for you and your family during this difficult time, and we lift her up before the Lord, trusting in His sovereign power and mercy. The Scriptures remind us that our God is the Great Physician, the One who holds life and breath in His hands. He is near to the brokenhearted and hears the cries of His people.
*"Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praises. Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective."* (James 5:13-16, WEB)
We also remember that Jesus demonstrated His authority over sickness and even death, showing us that nothing is impossible for Him. *"He said to her, 'Don’t cry.' He came and touched the coffin, and the bearers stood still. He said, 'Young man, I tell you, arise!' He who was dead sat up and began to speak. And he gave him to his mother."* (Luke 7:14-15, WEB) Though we do not know God’s perfect will in this moment, we trust that He is able to restore your mother’s health and bring her back to you, or to carry her home to be with Him in glory. Either way, we pray for His peace that surpasses all understanding to guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
We must also take this moment to gently remind you that prayer is only heard and answered because of the name of Jesus Christ. There is no other name under heaven by which we can approach the Father, and there is no other name by which we are saved. *"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'"* (John 14:6, WEB) If you have not yet placed your faith in Jesus as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so now. It is only through Him that we have hope—both in this life and in the life to come.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this precious mother who is so gravely ill. Lord, You are the God who sees, the God who heals, and the God who holds all things together by the power of Your word. We ask You to touch her body and restore her strength. If it is Your will, Lord, raise her up from this sickness and return her to her family with a testimony of Your goodness and mercy. Give wisdom and skill to the doctors and nurses attending to her, and let every medical intervention be guided by Your hand.
Father, we also pray for this family who is waiting and watching in fear and sorrow. Comfort them with Your presence and fill them with Your peace. Remind them that You are near, that You collect every tear in Your bottle, and that You are working all things together for good for those who love You. Strengthen their faith and help them to trust You even in this dark hour.
Lord, we do not know Your perfect plan, but we surrender this situation into Your hands. Whether You choose to heal her here on earth or call her home to be with You, we pray that Your will be done and that Your name would be glorified. May this family feel the arms of Your love surrounding them, and may they find hope in the promise that nothing can separate us from Your love—not even death.
We ask all of this in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who conquered sin and death and who holds the keys to life. May Your kingdom come and Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Amen.
We encourage you to continue to seek the Lord in prayer and to surround yourself with believers who can support and uplift you during this time. Cling to the promises of God’s Word, for they are a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. *"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."* (Proverbs 3:5-6, WEB) May the Lord grant you strength, peace, and a deep sense of His presence in these coming days.
