We hear your concern and we understand your heart in this situation, you were trying to honor and help your elderly mother with her bills and now you are facing a difficult consequence with your Medicaid help. What you did comes from a place of love and duty, and the Lord sees that. We are reminded If anyone doesn’t provide for his own, and especially his own household, he has denied the faith, and is worse than an unbeliever. 1 Timothy 5:8 and Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land which Yahweh your God gives you. Exodus 20:12. Your desire to care for your mother is pleasing to God.

We also know this kind of uncertainty about health insurance can bring much worry and fear. We want to encourage you to cast that burden on the Lord as you take the practical steps you can. Don’t be anxious for anything, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7. We also cling to the promise My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19 and Seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6:33. Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6.

In a practical way, we encourage you to do exactly as you plan, to go and have your name removed from that joint checking account promptly if that account is not truly your asset, and to provide clear documentation to your Medicaid caseworker. Keep copies of everything you send, note the dates and names of anyone you speak with, and ask specifically about an appeal or reconsideration process and how long it will take for your eligibility to be reviewed again. Medicaid often counts joint accounts as an available resource to you, even if the money is your mother’s, so showing that you have no ownership or access going forward is important. Be fully honest and transparent in what you submit, for the Lord delights in integrity. If you are able, ask for help from a local legal aid office, aging services, or a trusted advisor who understands Medicaid rules for your state, so you can ensure your mother’s bills can still be paid in a way that does not affect your benefits, such as through a power of attorney without joint ownership.

We join you in prayer together in Jesus’ name.

Father, we lift up our dear friend to You in the name of Jesus Christ. You see the love and sacrifice made to help a mother in her need, and You see the worry now over health insurance and provision. We ask for Your mercy and favor with the Medicaid office, that the paperwork would be received, understood, and processed quickly and justly, and that help would be restored without delay if it is Your will. Grant wisdom to make the right decisions and to find the proper way to continue to help her mother without hindrance. Provide for every medical and daily need, calm every anxious thought, and let Your peace guard this heart. We ask that You open doors and make the path straight, and that You would be glorified in the provision. We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, our provider and our peace, amen.

We hear how heavy this feels. You stepped in to help your mom with her bills out of love, and now you are carrying worry about your own health coverage. It makes sense that you would feel anxious and want to sort this out quickly.

What you are planning for tomorrow, taking your name off the account and sending proof of the change, sounds like a steady next step. We would also encourage you to contact your Medicaid office or caseworker as soon as you can to let them know what happened and ask exactly what documentation they need to review your case again. A letter from the bank showing the funds belong to your mom and that you no longer have ownership or access after the change is often what they look for. Keep copies of everything you send and note who you speak with and when, so you have a clear record.

If the paperwork feels confusing, your local Department of Social Services or a community health navigator can often walk through the forms with you at no cost, and they can explain timelines or appeal options. It is completely reasonable to ask for that kind of in person help.

We are holding you and your mom in prayer as you take these next steps.

Father, we lift our friend to You. Give clarity as they work with the bank and the Medicaid office, provide for their health needs in the days ahead, and bring peace while they wait for answers. Lead them to the right help and draw near to them and their mom with Your care. In Jesus name, amen.

Your request has been heard and your care for your aged mother in seeking to help her with her needed bills is taken to heart. To find that an act of kindness has brought trouble upon your own help with Medicaid is a trial that well may cause anxiety, and you do well to bring it to the Lord in prayer.

Our Savior says to us, do not be anxious about your temporal affairs. Be prudent, act honestly and openly, and then leave the result with your heavenly Father. I have found by my own experience and by observation of others that anxiety has never comforted any person, nor brought any grist to the mill, nor any meal to the barrel. If a thing does not pay, what is the good of it. More than this, the very anxiety which arises through being in a difficulty unfits us to meet that difficulty. It weakens the hand and clouds the judgment when we most need a clear mind to do the next right thing.

You purpose to go tomorrow to have your name removed from the account and to send a copy of what you have done to those who oversee this help. Do what is honest and upright in the sight of all men. Deal plainly with the office that administers this provision, seek wise counsel there, and let your way be clear and truthful. Having done what prudence and honesty require, cast your care upon Him who knows your need. He who gave the widow meal by miracle and caused the barrel not to fail can provide for you still. He notes every temporal want and will not forget His own.

We will pray for you, that the Lord may grant you wisdom in this matter, favor with those who review your case, and a quiet heart free from fretfulness and distress. May He supply your needs, preserve your health, sustain your mother, and keep you in perfect peace as you trust in Him. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and Saviour, who alone is able to save and to keep. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
