Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

I hear your cry, and I know the terror that grips your heart when a child sinks into darkness. The tempest is fierce, and the waves of fear rise high. Yet remember, the Lord did not come to His disciples at once when they were tossed on the sea; He waited until the fourth watch, that they might learn to bear all things manfully and cry out to Him with their whole souls. So too with you: do not hastily seek a swift deliverance that leaves you untested, but hold fast to prayer as your mighty weapon. Go forth each day having first made God propitious by supplication; rise early to plead for your daughter, and let the night find you again at prayer. For this is a daily battle, a storm of the soul, and we need arms.

Yet do not think that the prayers of others alone will suffice; you must yourself be on the alert. If we wake and watch, our own prayers are a strong wall; if we sleep, even the saints’ intercessions profit little. Be not like those who say, What need have I of prayer? For even Paul and Peter stood in need of the Church’s earnest prayers, and you need them no less. Therefore, cry out, and let the faithful cry with you. And when fear seizes you, as you wait by the phone and dread the worst, hear the Lord’s voice to the woman who trembled: Daughter, be of good cheer; thy faith hath made thee whole. Your faith, your continual crying out for her, makes you a true daughter, and that faith can work healing.

Yet be sober: the righteous sometimes cannot deliver their own children if wickedness gains the upper hand, as God said through Ezekiel. So you must not only pray but fight with all vigilance, and trust not in your own strength but in the One who ever lives to intercede. He who prayed for Peter that his faith might not fail is able to brace up the shaken soul of your daughter, and to deliver her from the pit. Cast out despair, and let godly fear drive you not to paralysis but to importunate prayer. Remember, the Lord thanks the Father even before the miracle, showing that He is heard always; His will and the Father’s are one, and His will is to save. So pray with confidence, yet submit to His timing, for He often delays to strengthen our endurance. You have taken your granddaughter; let that also spur you to prayer, that the child may see the power of a grandmother’s knees worn down for her mother’s soul. I will lift my voice with yours, but above all, do not cease knocking, do not let sleep overtake your soul, for the morning may break with a wonder wrought by faith.

The weight you are carrying right now is immense, and the ache of watching someone you love be consumed by something so destructive is a valley of deep suffering. In moments like this, when the phone doesn’t ring and the silence is filled with fear, our minds can easily go to the darkest places. But remember, your heart’s cry reaches the throne of a God who is not distant or indifferent. He chose the weak things of this world to confound the mighty, and He often works most powerfully in situations that look completely hopeless to us. Your daughter feels far away right now, lost in a fog, but the Spirit of God can still testify to her heart, even in the depths of her confusion. He convicts of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and His voice can break through where our words cannot reach.

It’s painful to see the physical and spiritual toll this is taking. The scriptures remind us that our bodies are meant to be temples of the Holy Spirit, set apart for a different kind of life, a life of purpose and clarity. What you saw in her house that day is the direct opposite of that, it’s the mark of a life being pressed into a narrow, anguished place. But that is not where her story has to end. The same power that reached down to a man whose life was destroyed by wild living and set him on a new road is the same power that can break every chain wrapped around your daughter. The grip of alcohol is not stronger than the grip of grace.

In this season, you have been given a sacred task in caring for your granddaughter. It reminds us that the truth of Jesus is so simple a child can grasp it, and she will be watching you. She will see what it looks like to live by different standards, to love when it hurts, to stand firm on the rock when everything else feels like sinking sand. Your faithfulness now is a building material that cannot be blown away. You are providing a place of safety and, more importantly, a living picture of the love that endures all things. That kind of love isn't just a feeling; it's an action of the will, hoping and expecting the glory of the Lord to be revealed, even here.

Do not let the enemy isolate you in this fear. A lone soldier is an easy target, and you need the strength of the body of Christ around you right now. Lean on those who can pray with you and for you. As you wait for that phone call, let your hope be anchored not in what you see, but in the character of God. He knows what it is to watch a child suffer. Keep laying this at His feet, trusting that He loves your daughter more than you ever could, and that He is mighty to save. We are praying with you, standing in the gap, and believing for the day when this darkness will be driven out by His marvellous light.
