My Car was stolen

The loss of your car, which was your shelter and your means of work, is a heavy blow. I do not make light of your trouble, for you are stripped of what you depended on, and the suddenness of it must sting like a wound. But let us not be swallowed up by the loss of mere things. Remember Job, who lost far more and yet did not cling to possessions when he had them, nor demand them back when they were gone. He knew that the Giver of all is greater than any gift. You pray for the car to be returned, and I join my prayers to yours, for God is able to restore what has been taken. Yet I pray more urgently that you would be held fast by the hand that provides, not by the things provided. The car, the job, the goods within, these are but tools for a season, and if we clutch them too tightly, we risk losing the very soul that should use them for God’s glory.

Consider how the demons begged to enter the swine, and when Christ gave permission, they rushed to destroy. The enemy delights in ruin, hoping to drive you to dismay and despair. But God, who permitted this trial, desires to show your faith more glorious and to turn the wicked scheme on its own head. Just as the power of Christ shone when the demons could not touch a thing without His leave, so your patience now can proclaim His strength. Do not seek Him only for the bread that perishes, as the crowds did, for then you may forfeit even the smaller gift. Seek first the kingdom, and these necessary things will be added in His time, whether by the return of the car or another provision you do not yet see.

I remind you that the napkins and myrrh left in Christ’s tomb speak a truth: what is bound up with care and clung to with expense is often a witness against theft. But your true treasure is not in that car, nor in any earthly house. Your home is the shelter of the Most High, your transportation the swiftness of prayer, your possessions the promises of God. Let your heart not be buried in the seat cushions or the glove box. Use this moment to loosen your grip on the fleeting shadow of χρήματα, those things meant to be used, not worshipped. If the Master returns it, receive it with thanksgiving; if not, trust that He knows your need and will open a door no thief can break through. Do not be paralyzed by the loss, but rise and walk by faith, for the same Lord who stilled the storm can calm your fears and supply your lack in ways beyond your imagination.

Hearing that your car was taken, and that it was your home and held everything you owned, hits deep. That kind of loss cuts into more than just the practical side of daily life, it unsettles your whole sense of security. When your shelter and your livelihood are suddenly ripped away, all that weight lands right on your shoulders.

It is so easy to build our hopes on what we have. I remember a moment years ago when I finally got a car I had dreamed about. It was beautiful, with that new smell and every feature I had picked out. But before I even made it home, some careless person dinged the door in a parking lot. I was furious, sick inside, and it undid my joy in an instant. The thing I thought would make life better showed me how fragile these treasures really are. A friend later reminded me, gently, that it was all going to burn one day anyway. That stung in the moment, but it was true. The things we clutch so tightly have an expiration date, but our souls do not.

That is not to say your pain over this theft does not matter. It does. In the Scriptures, when Laban accused Jacob of stealing things from him, Jacob had to walk through a mess of distrust and fear. He could only commit his cause to God, who saw the truth and upheld him. Your loss is not hidden from God. He keeps track of every wrong and every tear.

There have been times when provision came in ways I never could have arranged. I once could not afford a car that seemed just right, and the price would not budge. Months later, the seller called and said, “Name your price.” It was clear that if God wills something for our good, He can open doors we cannot pry loose on our own. I do not know whether your car will come back. But I do know that the same Lord who cares for the lilies and the birds sees your need for shelter and work, and He is able to restore in ways that surprise us.

When life strips us down to nothing, no job, no home, no car, it can feel like the absolute bottom. Yet that is often the place where we stop staring at what we have lost and start looking up to the God who never loses sight of us. You are not forgotten. I am praying that in this hard season you will taste His presence in a way that holds you steady while He supplies what you truly need.

We want to thank you for the trust you placed in us to lift your heavy burden before the Lord. It has been on our hearts to continue standing with you in prayer these past days, asking our Heavenly Father to intervene in this overwhelming situation. We prayed that if your car was still nearby, God would blind the eyes of those who took it and guide authorities to recover it quickly. We asked Him to protect every possession inside, so that nothing would be lost or damaged. We also prayed for provision—asking the Lord to open unexpected doors for temporary transportation and even the means to replace what was taken, if it cannot be returned.

We know this loss has shaken your sense of security and stability, and we have asked God to wrap you in His peace that surpasses all understanding. We prayed for strength as you navigate the challenges of work, housing, and daily life without your vehicle, and for wisdom as you make decisions about insurance, police reports, and next steps. Most of all, we asked the Lord to remind you that He sees you, He cares about every detail of your life, and He is your true Provider—your shelter, your strength, and your hope.

If your car has been returned or if God has provided another way for your needs to be met, we would be overjoyed to hear your praise report! Please share how the Lord has worked, so we can rejoice with you. If your situation remains unchanged, we encourage you to post this request again so we can continue to intercede on your behalf. We believe that God hears our prayers and that He is at work, even when we cannot see it.

May the Lord bless you with His presence and peace as you seek Him. May He restore what was taken, comfort your heart, and remind you that you are never alone. We continue to pray for you, trusting in His faithfulness and goodness.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
