My best friend's son is missing

Disciple of Prayer
My best friend‘s son has been missing since yesterday over 12 hours now close to 20. He is 30 years old. He has a wife and a five year-old son. He was off from work yesterday and never showed up at school to pick up his wife and son. No one has seen or heard from him. His car is gone. His wife filled out a police report and my best friend and her husband drove down and are with his wife and their grandson. Please pray that they find him soon alive and well in Jesus name I pray amen.

Our hearts are deeply burdened for your best friend’s family during this agonizing time of uncertainty. The disappearance of a loved one is a trial that shakes the very foundation of our trust, but we must cling to the truth that our God is sovereign, compassionate, and near to the brokenhearted. He sees this family’s pain, and He is not distant in their suffering. We join you in crying out to the Lord for this young man’s safe return, trusting that nothing is hidden from His sight and that His power is made perfect even in our weakness.

The Scriptures remind us that our Heavenly Father cares intimately for His children, so much so that He numbers the very hairs on our heads (Matthew 10:30). In moments like these, we must resist the temptation to despair and instead fix our eyes on Jesus, who is the author and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). The psalmist declares, *"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted, and saves those who are crushed in spirit"* (Psalm 34:18, WEB). Let this family take refuge in that promise, knowing that God is their strength and shield in this storm.

We also take comfort in the truth that our battles are not fought in our own strength but in the power of prayer and the name of Jesus. You have rightly invoked His name in this request, for it is the only name under heaven by which we are saved and through which we boldly approach the throne of grace (Acts 4:12, Hebrews 4:16). Let us continue to lift this situation before the Lord with persistence, for the effective, earnest prayer of the righteous avails much (James 5:16).

At the same time, we must acknowledge the reality of the spiritual warfare at play. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), but our God is greater. We stand against any scheme of the devil in this situation and declare that this man will be found alive and restored to his family, for the glory of God. The Lord is a God of miracles, and we trust Him to intervene supernaturally—whether through the hands of the authorities, the eyes of a witness, or His own divine intervention.

To the family waiting in anguish, we urge you to lean on one another and on the body of Christ. Do not isolate yourselves in grief but allow the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, to guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:6-7). Cast all your anxieties on Him, for He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7). And as you wait, let this trial draw you closer to the Lord, who is your ever-present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1).

We pray now with one accord:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus, lifting up this family in their time of desperate need. Lord, You see where this young man is—You know his every step, his every breath. We ask You, in Your mercy, to bring him home safely and swiftly to his wife and son, to his parents, and to all who love him. Protect him from harm, Lord, and surround him with Your angels. If he is lost or confused, guide him back to safety. If he is in danger, deliver him by Your mighty hand.

We pray for the authorities involved in the search—give them wisdom, discernment, and divine insight to locate him without delay. Open doors that no man can shut, Lord, and bring clarity where there is confusion. Let this situation be a testimony of Your power and faithfulness, that many would see and know that You are God.

Comfort this family, Father. Strengthen the wife and child left behind, and uphold your best friend and her husband as they support them. Fill their home with Your peace, even in the midst of this storm. Remind them that You are their refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

We rebuke any spiritual forces of darkness that may be at work in this situation. Satan, you have no authority here. We command every plan of the enemy to be exposed and thwarted in the name of Jesus. No weapon formed against this family shall prosper, for their hope is in the Lord (Isaiah 54:17).

Lord, we trust You in this. We know that You are good, and Your love endures forever. We ask for a miracle—bring this son, this husband, this father home safely. Let this story end in praise and thanksgiving to Your name. We declare life, restoration, and rejoicing over this family.

In the powerful and holy name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

We will continue to stand with you in prayer, believing for a breakthrough. Keep us updated, and let this family know they are not alone. The body of Christ is lifting them up, and we trust that God will move mightily on their behalf. If there is any way we can further support or encourage them, do not hesitate to share. May the Lord’s peace, which transcends all understanding, guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

We're here with you, friend, as you wait for news of your best friend's son. It's hard, isn't it? The uncertainty, the worry, the not knowing. But remember, God is with you in the midst of it all. He sees your friend's son, He knows where he is, and He cares deeply about what's happening.

We're praying, just like you, that he'll be found soon, safe and well. We're asking God to guide him back home if he's lost, to protect him if he's in danger, and to bring him back to his family as soon as possible. We're also praying for the authorities involved in the search, that God would give them wisdom and insight to find him quickly.

We're here to support you and your best friend too. We know the waiting is tough, but we want you to know you're not alone. Let's keep lifting this situation up to God together, trusting in His love and care. And if there's anything we can do to support you or your best friend, please don't hesitate to let us know.

Let's keep praying, keep hoping, and keep trusting in God's goodness. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
