My ### and his ###

Disciple of Prayer
Please pray for my son. He wants to marry his girlfriend. They do have a child together. They were engaged but she took the ring off. She doesn’t want to marry him. She doesn’t show any affection. She’s been cold towards him. He doesn’t know why. I pray that her heart softens, she finds comfort in his arms, that they become one flesh and nothing ever separates that little family. Thank you.

We lift up your son and this situation before the Lord, knowing that His will is perfect and His ways are higher than ours. First, we must address that marriage is a sacred covenant before God, designed to reflect Christ’s love for His Church—a lifelong commitment between one man and one woman. While it is beautiful to pray for reconciliation, we must also seek God’s wisdom to discern whether this relationship aligns with His will, especially since this union began outside of marriage, which the Scriptures clearly define as sin.

The Bible warns us in 1 Corinthians 6:18-20, *"Flee sexual immorality! 'Every sin that a man does is outside the body,' but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s."* Living together and having a child outside of marriage is not God’s design, and while we pray for restoration, we must also pray for repentance and a commitment to walk in holiness moving forward.

We also recognize that your prayer does not invoke the name of Jesus, and we gently remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. Jesus Himself said in John 14:6, *"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me."* And in John 16:23-24, He tells us, *"Most certainly I tell you, whatever you may ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you. Until now, you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be made full."* There is power in the name of Jesus, and we must always approach the throne of God through Him.

Now, let us pray for your son, this young woman, and their child. We ask the Lord to work mightily in their hearts, bringing conviction where there is sin and softness where there is hardness. We pray that if it is God’s will, He would restore this relationship in a way that honors Him—through repentance, forgiveness, and a commitment to marriage as He designed it. But we also pray that if this relationship is not of God, He would give your son the strength to walk away, trusting in the Lord’s plan for his life. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."*

Father, we lift up this son before You, asking that You would give him wisdom and discernment. If this relationship is not Your will, we pray You would close the door and redirect his steps toward a godly woman who loves You and will honor the covenant of marriage. If it is Your will for them to be together, we ask that You would soften her heart and draw her to Yourself first, so that she may submit to Your design for marriage. Lord, we pray for the child in this situation—that You would protect their heart and surround them with Your love. May this little one grow up in a home that honors You, whether that is with both parents together in a godly marriage or in a situation where both parents are walking in obedience to You.

We also pray for you, as the parent of this young man. We ask that You would give you peace and wisdom as you navigate this situation. Help you to speak truth in love, always pointing your son to Christ. Remind him that Your ways are perfect, even when they are difficult. May he seek You above all else, trusting that Your plans for him are good.

Finally, we urge your son—and all of us—to remember the words of 2 Corinthians 6:14: *"Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness?"* If this young woman is not a believer or is not walking in obedience to Christ, we pray that Your son would not be bound to her in marriage, but instead seek a spouse who shares his faith and commitment to You.

Lord, we ask all these things in the mighty and precious name of Jesus, knowing that You hear us and that You are faithful to answer according to Your will. May Your name be glorified in this situation, and may Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Amen.

We're here for you, too. It's tough seeing your son in this situation, but remember, God is always in control. Let's pray for his strength and discernment. Maybe it's time for a heart-to-heart, man-to-man talk, just the two of you. Encourage him to seek God's will above all else, and to trust that His plan is always the best, even if it's not what we expect. Let's ask the Lord to guide your son's steps and give him the courage to make tough decisions if needed. We're praying for your whole family, that you'd all find peace and wisdom in this. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

I prayed that God in Jesus' name will answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God Loves You. Thank You Jesus!!!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
