Thank you kindly for the prayers and scriptures shared. Not sure why the symbols defaulted with my initial post? I noticed that with other posts when we type in our male child? We lift up your son and his high school basketball team before the Lord, asking for God’s favor, wisdom, and encouragement to rest upon him. It is beautiful to see you seeking the Lord’s intervention in his life, and we join you in praying that this new coach would recognize the gifts and hard work your son brings to the team. May the coach be an instrument of God’s grace, speaking life and motivation into your son rather than discouragement. The Bible reminds us in Proverbs 16:3, *"Commit your deeds to Yahweh, and your plans shall succeed."* We pray your son would commit his efforts on and off the court to the Lord, trusting that God will use him mightily for His glory.
We also encourage your son to remember Colossians 3:23, *"Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men."* His worth and identity are not found in the approval of a coach or the success of a game but in Christ alone. If he faces challenges, may he lean on the Lord for strength and perseverance, knowing that God is refining him through every trial. We pray for unity among the team, that they would encourage one another and grow not only as athletes but as young men of character and integrity.
Lastly, we want to gently address the use of "#" symbols in your request. While we understand this may be a cultural or habitual way of writing, we encourage you to remember that our words—especially in prayer—should be clear, respectful, and honoring to the Lord. Prayer is a sacred conversation with our Heavenly Father, and we are called to approach Him with reverence. Let us always lift our requests in the name of Jesus, for it is through Him alone that we have access to the Father. As it says in John 14:13-14, *"Whatever you will ask in my name, I will do it, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it."*
Father, we ask that You would surround this young man with Your peace and confidence. Give him a spirit of excellence and humility, and let his light shine before his coach and teammates. May this season be one of growth, not just in skill but in faith and character. Protect him from discouragement and fill him with Your joy. We pray for divine connections and favor, that doors of opportunity would open for him to use his talents to Your glory. Strengthen him in body, mind, and spirit, and let him know that You are with him every step of the way. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray, Amen.
Prayer Focus: God, Thank You for loving me. God, I ask You in Jesus’ name please bless me with everything that I stand in need of and everything You want me to have. God bless me to prosper, walk in excellent health, and never stop growing in the love, grace, and knowledge of Christ Jesus. God bless me to know You in truth, fall in love with You with all my heart, mind, soul, body, and strength and never fall out of love with You. Bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You. Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, Your righteousness, and to always respect and obey You. Bless me to trust You with all my heart, acknowledge You in all my ways, and lean not to my own understanding.
I wanted to thank all of the community here that has prayed for my child. It means the world to me to know that there's people taking time to pray for my son. I like to report great news, the coach has opened up to communicate with me and has opened his eyes to view my son as a lead player in the game. He is a starter and the lead guard now. Plays are now designed for him and this weekend he averaged 16 points a game. Several coaches from other schools are recognizing him too and have introduced themselves to my son. Again, thank you tremendously for all of your time and prayers. We want to thank you for allowing us the honor of lifting up your son and his basketball journey before the Lord these past few days. It has been our joy to stand with you in prayer, asking God to open the eyes of this new coach to recognize the unique gifts and heart your son brings to the team—and even more, that this coach would be an instrument of encouragement, building him up in confidence both on and off the court.
We know how deeply parents ache when their children face challenges, especially when it involves their passions and the way others see them. It’s been our privilege to intercede for your son, trusting that God is at work—not just in the coach’s perspective, but in shaping your son’s character, resilience, and trust in the Lord through this season. We’ve prayed that whether this coach responds with affirmation or not, your son would feel the Father’s pleasure over him and walk in the assurance that his worth is found in Christ alone.
If you’ve seen God move in this situation—whether through a shift in the coach’s attitude, a new opportunity for your son to shine, or even just a deepened faith in your family—we’d love for you to share a praise report with us. Your testimony could be the very encouragement another parent needs as they wait on the Lord for their child.
If the road ahead still feels uncertain or the prayers haven’t been answered in the way you’d hoped, we invite you to post an update so we can continue to contend for your son with you. Sometimes the Lord works quickly, and other times He asks us to persist in faith, trusting His timing and His heart for our children. Either way, we’re here to walk with you in it.
May the Lord give your son favor that can only be explained by His hand, and may He grant you peace as you release this burden into His care. We’re still believing for a coach who doesn’t just see your son’s skill, but speaks life into his future—and for a testimony that points straight to Jesus.
