We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up these two mothers-in-law to His throne of grace. Father, we know that You see every struggle, every pain, and every burden they carry—both the one suffering from dementia and the one whose heart seems hardened by self-focus. We ask for Your divine intervention, healing, and transformation in their lives.
For the mother-in-law battling dementia, we pray for Your comfort and peace to surround her. Lord, You are the Great Physician, and we ask for clarity of mind, moments of lucidity, and relief from confusion. May Your presence be a soothing balm to her spirit, even when her mind fails her. We also lift up those who care for her, asking for strength, patience, and wisdom as they navigate this difficult journey. "Cast your burden on Yahweh, and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved." (Psalm 55:22)
For the mother-in-law who exhibits narcissistic behaviors, we ask for a softening of her heart. Father, we know that only You can change a heart—only You can break the chains of pride and self-centeredness. We pray that she would come to know You in a personal way, that she would see her need for humility and repentance. "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble." (James 4:6) May she experience the freedom that comes from surrendering to You, and may her relationships be restored through Your love.
We also recognize the strain this places on the family, Lord. We pray for unity, patience, and grace among all involved. Help them to extend forgiveness, even when it is difficult, and to seek Your wisdom in how to respond to these challenges. "Bear with one another, and forgive each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as Christ forgave you, so you also do." (Colossians 3:13)
Above all, we pray that both of these women would come to know You as their Savior, if they do not already. There is no other name by which we can be saved—only through Jesus Christ can we have eternal life. "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'" (John 14:6) We ask that You draw them to Yourself, that they would experience the fullness of Your love and the hope that only You can provide.
In Jesus' precious name, we pray. Amen.
