Mother and estranged daughter.

Beloved of All
My daughter has me, her mother, blocked and won't talk to me. It's been over 4 years. Her father and I have been separated this same amount of time. I think he's lying to her about me. I think he's on drugs, but says he's not. I can't reach out to her. The ball is in her court. I want her back in my life. She's ### and in college. I miss her SO much. My heart aches. She's my only child. I want her back in my life.

Where’s Mother?
Every mother watches her child’s life battle and expects to hear whether they chose right or wrong.

God’s love runs to meet the repentant heart and calls you to turn toward him now.

A mother’s love endures beyond death and calls us to live worthily of her watchful care.
We hear the deep ache in your heart as a mother separated from your only child, and we join with you in bringing this painful estrangement before our Heavenly Father. He sees your tears and knows the loneliness of these ### years without your daughter's voice in your life. We are reminded that He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds Psalm 147:3, and that He desires to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers Malachi 4:6.

We grieve with you over the brokenness in your family. ### years of separation from your husband and ### years of silence from your daughter is a heavy burden. We believe marriage is a sacred covenant before God between a man and a woman for life, as Jesus taught What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate Mark 10:9. While we do not know all the details of your separation, we encourage you to seek godly counsel and prayer regarding your marriage, whether there may be a path toward reconciliation and healing, or if you are living apart, to seek the Lord's wisdom through Scripture and pastoral guidance 1 Corinthians 7:10-11. God's will is for peace and holiness in the home.

We also understand your concern that your daughter may be hearing untruths about you and your concern about her father's possible drug use. The Lord calls us to speak truth and to walk in sobriety. You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor Exodus 20:16 and we are exhorted Do not be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit Ephesians 5:18. Our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. If your husband is struggling, he needs deliverance and truth, and if he is speaking falsely, that is sin before God. We pray for him to be set free and to walk in honesty. At the same time we gently encourage you not to let suspicion harden into bitterness, but to entrust judgment to the Lord and to love even those who may have wronged you, as Jesus said love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you Matthew 5:44.

Your daughter is now a young adult in college, and though she is grown, God's command still stands Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long Ephesians 6:2, Exodus 20:12. Her choice to block you and remain distant grieves God's heart for families, yet we know the Lord can soften hearts in His timing, just as He waited for the prodigal son to return Luke 15:20. We encourage you to continue to respect the boundary she has set while keeping the door of love open. If possible, a brief, grace-filled letter sent by mail with no accusation, only love and blessing, can be a seed, and a soft answer turns away wrath Proverbs 15:1. Above all we urge you to cast all your anxiety on him, because he cares for you 1 Peter 5:7 and to not be anxious, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God, and the peace of God will guard your hearts Philippians 4:6-7. Seek to forgive as the Lord forgave you Colossians 3:13 and to live at peace as far as it depends on you Romans 12:18.

We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6 and There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. It is by putting our faith in Jesus Christ, who died for our sins and rose again, that we are reconciled to God Romans 10:9. We pray you know Him as your Savior and bring every request in His precious name.

We pray together for you now. Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift this mother to You and we ask You to comfort her aching heart. Heal her brokenness and guard her mind with Your peace. We ask You to work in the heart of her daughter, wherever she is in college, to soften her heart, to turn her heart toward her mother, and to bring conviction where honor is due. Remove any lies or confusion and let truth prevail. We pray for this husband and father, that if he is bound by drugs or deceit, You would deliver him and bring him to repentance and sobriety. Restore what the enemy has stolen in this family. Help this mother to walk in forgiveness, patience, and hope, to keep praying without ceasing, and to trust Your perfect timing. Let her daughter one day return and let their relationship be restored for Your glory. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.

We encourage you to remain faithful in prayer, to stay rooted in Scripture, to seek support from a Bible believing church family, and to continue to entrust your daughter into God's hands. He loves her even more than you do and He is able to do far more than we can ask or imagine Ephesians 3:20. Keep the door open in love, keep praying, and trust that the Lord who began a good work will be faithful to complete it.

We hear the ache in your words, and how heavy these four years have been. Loving your only daughter so deeply and not being able to reach her, while also living through separation from her father, is a lonely kind of grief. Of course you miss her.

Waiting when you feel the ball is in her court takes such patience. At college age many young adults are trying to sort out their own identity and family story, and that can make them pull away for a time even when love is still there. It does not make the silence easier, and it can leave you wondering what she has been told and what is true.

In this long middle, we have found it helps to have a couple of steady supports just for you. A trusted pastor, counselor, or a divorce recovery support group can be a place to grieve honestly and not carry this alone. Some mothers also find it helps to write letters to their daughter that they keep private for now, a way to hold your love and prayers without pressing against a boundary she has set. Respecting that she has asked for space, as painful as it is, often protects the possibility of a healthier reconnection later more than trying to find another way around the block.

You are doing the hard work of loving her while letting her have room to come to her own decisions.

Father, we lift this mother to You in her loneliness and longing. Comfort her heart, give her wisdom for each day, and guard her daughter in college. Draw them both toward Your care and guide their next steps in Your timing. In Jesus' name, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your sorrow has been heard and your aching heart is not hidden from the Lord who healeth the broken in heart. To love a child so dearly and to be kept at a distance for more than four years is a great ill, a true breaking of the heart, and we very speedily care for bodily diseases but this wound of the spirit is deeper and urges us to seek the heavenly Physician.

There is an abundance of healing power in Jesus Christ and His salvation. The Scripture says the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations, and the least thing about Christ is healing. Not only His fruit but His leaves, the little things as it were about Him, are full of healing virtue. These healing leaves change the life blood and make the nature other than it was before. When you feel sick unto death with longing and grief, ask to be forgiven and healing will come from the pardoning hand, for healing and forgiveness are placed in happy conjunction. The Lord who pardons through Christ alone is the same Lord who binds up the wound. He must begin with you before you can begin with any other work, and His touch, like His taking Peter's wife's mother by the hand and lifting her up, must come before serving.

We also hear your longing for reconciliation. He is the God of peace and He has on His part prepared everything that is necessary for a perfect reconciliation. God was in Christ reconciling the world unto Himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them, and has committed unto us the word of reconciliation. This is our comfort, that reconciliation is first a work of God, and we are to make known that word plainly. You cannot force a door that another has closed, and you have wisely said the ball is in her court. That restraint, though painful, honors the Lord and honors your daughter who is now a woman in college. Continue to keep the door open in love without pressing or pursuing through means that would dishonor her boundaries.

We will pray with you and for you. We pray that the Lord will heal your broken heart and keep you in holy patience, that you may be not afraid with any amazement but show the quiet strength of faith. We pray for your daughter, that the Lord will guard her mind and heart in her college years, draw her to Himself for salvation through Jesus Christ alone, and in His time soften what has been hardened and open what has been closed. We pray also for her father from whom you have been separated these four years. Marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman before God, and separation brings its own grief and temptation. If there are lies and if drugs have taken hold, we ask the Lord to bring truth to light and to bring conviction and deliverance, for Christ is able to heal though He is not always at every moment manifestly healing, yet there are seasons of visitation when His power is present to heal.

In this waiting, commit your way to the Lord. Walk faithfully before Him, let your life and conversation commend the Gospel, keep a praying heart, and entrust your child to the One who loves her more than you do. If the Lord gives opportunity for a gentle word or a brief letter to be received, let it be seasoned with grace and free from accusation, leaving all judgment to God. Seek the counsel and fellowship of faithful believers near you who can walk with you in prayer and watch over your soul.

Let us pray together. O Lord, Sun of Righteousness with healing in His wings, look upon this mother whose heart is broken. Forgive her sins and heal her sorrows by the blood of Christ. Lift her up as Thou didst lift the sick one by the hand. Be her peace while she waits. Remember her daughter before Thy throne, keep her from evil, bring her to know Thee, and if it be Thy will, bring reconciliation in Thy perfect time. Remember also the husband and father, and grant repentance and healing where there is bondage. Do all things of God, who hast reconciled us unto Thyself by Jesus Christ. Amen.

Your sorrow as a mother who has not heard her only child's voice in four years is deeply felt, and your request has been heard with prayer and compassion. To ache for a daughter who is now in college and to be unable to reach her because the door has been closed is a heavy burden, and it is right to bring that burden to the Lord.

Scripture shows us a mother who also cried out for her daughter from a distance. She did not bring her daughter before Jesus but she herself pleaded, Have mercy on me, and she kept crying out even when the answer seemed delayed. Jesus teaches us through her that perseverance in prayer matters, that even when we feel unworthy or unheard, persistent, humble prayer is honored by God. You are doing what that mother did, entrusting your daughter to Christ when you cannot go to her yourself. Keep coming to Him in that same way, day after day, with the same simple plea for mercy.

The Lord also told us plainly that following Him would sometimes bring division within the closest relationships, even between a mother and a daughter, a father and a child. This does not make the pain less, but it reminds us that estrangement is not unknown to God and that He has power even in a divided house. When such division comes, we are called to walk carefully and wisely, redeeming the time, giving no cause for reproach except our faithfulness to the gospel. That means respecting the boundary your daughter has set while keeping your own heart and life open, steady, and gracious, so that if and when the Lord opens a door, there is no bitterness added to the hurt.

The ball may be in her court as you say, and that is painful because you cannot control the outcome. What you can do is continue with one accord in prayer, as the first believers did when they waited on God together in an upper room. Bring your daughter before the Lord by name each day. Pray also for her father, that truth would come to light and that if there is any bondage to drugs or to falsehood, God would bring conviction, help, and healing. It is wise not to settle in your heart on accusations you cannot verify, but to ask God to reveal what is true and to act in mercy toward all of you.

In this waiting time, seek to walk in love, which is the mother of all good things and makes hard things bearable. Let your life show the steady, quiet faith you pray your daughter will one day see. Stay connected to faithful believers who can pray with you and support you, guard your own heart from despair, and keep the door of prayer and the door of your home open in love without forcing contact she is not ready for.

We pray for you now:

Father in heaven, have mercy on this mother and on her daughter. You see this mother's tears and you know her love for her only child. Comfort her aching heart and guard her from bitterness and hopelessness. Draw her daughter to Yourself, protect her in college, guide her steps, and soften her heart toward truth and toward reconciliation in Your time and according to Your will. Bring to light what is hidden and bring healing where there is hurt or deception. Help this mother to persevere in prayer, to walk wisely and gently, and to trust You with what she cannot control. Give her peace that passes understanding as she waits on You, and keep them both in Your care. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord we ask this, amen.
