MORE PR0BLEMS ACCESSING MEDICAL CARE

Leah B.

Servant of All
Let me start on a positive note: The credit card company I was worried about did in fact acknowledge my payment. They also did send me a new card with my name spelled correctly. Now it's just a matter of forcing myself to make a final decision and then calling to cancel the card. I just always agonize over decisions and dread doing stuff like this.

And speaking of dread... I made myself go back to bed for another three hours this morning because I didn't want to deal with more garbage with medical. I turned out to be right. First up, yesterday my pharmacy informed me my pulmonary doctor did not provide the requested refill for my main COPD inhaler. I called his office. They told me the inhaler refill was just called in. They asked me to wait to see if the pharmacy updated their system so I did. Nothing. I called the pharmacy today. They insisted that no refill was called in. I called my doctor's office again today. It took them two hours to stop being on answering service. When I finally got through, I ended up having to leave a message anyway. I waited all day. They never re-phoned the rx in. This is an inhaler to help me breathe so I don't end up in the hospital or dead. Wonderful. In addition, I had procured a disc copy of my CAT scan, as well as my written report of same from the dental specialist to give to my pulmonologist. I did this at his request because he wants to determine if I need to see an ENT specialist, as well as a cardiologist. I dropped these materials off last Friday. [An incidental finding on my CAT scan was calcifications around my thyroid. That may or may not put me at increased risk for heart attack or stroke. The thing is my pulmonologist can tell right away. He's very good at his job, and I will do whatever he says.] But back to point: I asked the office staff today if my lung doctor got the materials. I was told they put them in his mailbox. All this being said, please pray in Jesus's name this refill gets straightened out tomorrow and that I get my inhaler soon. Also please pray my pulmonologist gets back to me soon with his input about my CAT scan results.

Okay. Next up, we come to my neurologist appointments. As you may recall, it took me TWO MONTHS to even get the office to allow me to book an appointment. It took two months, one week to see the neurologist. Then it took two more weeks to get another appointment, which was a screening interview. After that interview, I waited for 12 days and heard nothing back. Today I found out why when I called them: They got my phone number wrong. Anyway, the issue at hand is it will take until mid-January for me to start treatment at this place. On top of that, there's somewhat of a chance that my insurance won't cover it. I can't afford any more out of pocket. The dental specialist already cost close to five thousand dollars. Anyway, please pray in Jesus's name that my insurance will cover these treatments and that they will work. [I have some doubts because these doctors are literally split 50/50 as to the cause of my jaw movements. If the treatment doesn't help, it means that I went with the ones who are wrong.] Also please pray in Jesus's name for my mental state. I'm SICK of all of this. I would literally almost rather let myself drop dead than keep fighting to get medical care. I am betting there are people like me who really do give up and just let themselves die because everything is so ridiculously hard. Thank you for praying 🙏.

We lift you up before the Father in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who is the Great Physician and the Prince of Peace. It is only through His name that we have access to the throne of grace, and we are grateful you acknowledged this truth in your request. Your struggles with medical care, financial burdens, and the emotional toll of these trials weigh heavily on our hearts. The Lord sees your exhaustion, your frustration, and your deep need for relief. He is not distant in your suffering but draws near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18). Let us address these burdens together, seeking His will and His intervention in every detail.

First, we praise God with you for the resolution with your credit card—His provision in the small things reminds us that He is faithful in all things. Yet we also recognize the anxiety that lingers over decisions, even seemingly minor ones. The Lord does not call us to a spirit of fear but of power, love, and self-discipline (2 Timothy 1:7). When we agonize over choices, we can surrender them to Him, trusting that He will guide our steps (Proverbs 3:5-6). Canceling that card may feel daunting, but we pray the Lord grants you clarity and peace as you take this step. May He quiet your heart with the assurance that He holds your future, and no detail escapes His notice.

Now, to the pressing matter of your medical care—we hear the desperation in your words, and we cry out to the Lord on your behalf. The failure to refill your COPD inhaler is not just an inconvenience; it is a life-threatening oversight. Scripture tells us that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20), and the Lord is deeply concerned with your well-being. We rebuke the spirit of negligence and confusion that has hindered your access to this critical medication. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), but Jesus came to give life abundantly. We pray that tomorrow, the Lord would move mightily to break through every barrier. May your pulmonologist’s office act with urgency and accuracy, may the pharmacy receive the correct prescription without delay, and may you have your inhaler in hand swiftly. Let no weapon formed against your health prosper (Isaiah 54:17).

We also lift up the results of your CAT scan and the need for wisdom regarding your thyroid and potential cardiac risks. Your pulmonologist’s expertise is a gift from God, and we ask the Lord to give him discernment as he reviews your records. May the Holy Spirit guide his mind and hands, and may you receive clear, timely direction about whether to see an ENT or cardiologist. If further specialists are needed, we pray the Lord would open doors for appointments without the delays and red tape you’ve endured thus far. He is the God who parts seas and moves mountains—no bureaucratic hurdle is too great for Him (Matthew 17:20).

The delays and errors with your neurologist are equally infuriating, and we share in your frustration. Twelve days without a call, a wrong phone number, and now a wait until mid-January for treatment—these are not mere oversights but systemic failures that can feel like attacks on your dignity and hope. Yet we serve a God who redeems time and turns ashes into beauty (Isaiah 61:3). We pray that the Lord would expedite your treatment, overriding every obstacle. If your insurance resists covering these costs, we ask the Lord to soften hearts and open pathways for full provision. He owns the cattle on a thousand hills (Psalm 50:10) and is not limited by human systems. We also pray for supernatural favor with these doctors—that the Lord would unite them in accurate diagnosis and effective treatment, silencing the doubt that whispers you’ve chosen the wrong path. His wisdom is perfect, and He will lead you to the right care (James 1:5).

Most importantly, we address the weariness in your spirit. Your words, *"I would literally almost rather let myself drop dead than keep fighting,"* break our hearts. Beloved, the enemy wants you to give up, to believe that death is preferable to the fight. But Jesus says, *"Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest"* (Matthew 11:28). He does not promise an easy road, but He promises to walk it with you. The apostle Paul faced his own "thorn in the flesh" and pleaded with the Lord to remove it. God’s response was not to eliminate the suffering but to say, *"My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness"* (2 Corinthians 12:9). You are not alone in your exhaustion. The Lord sees every tear, every sleepless night, every moment you’ve wanted to surrender. He is collecting them in His bottle (Psalm 56:8), and He will sustain you.

We also gently remind you that while your struggles are real, the Lord calls us to guard our hearts against bitterness and despair. Proverbs 4:23 warns, *"Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it is the wellspring of life."* In your weariness, lean into the body of Christ. Let others bear your burdens with you (Galatians 6:2). If you have not already, we encourage you to reach out to your church or a trusted believer who can walk alongside you in practical and spiritual support. Isolation fuels the enemy’s lies, but community reminds us of God’s faithfulness.

Finally, we pray for your mental and emotional state. The Lord is close to the crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18), and He wants to renew your strength like the eagles’ (Isaiah 40:31). We ask Him to lift the heaviness from your shoulders, to replace your despair with hope, and to remind you that your life has purpose and value in His eyes. You are not a burden; you are His beloved child. When the fight feels impossible, remember that Jesus already won the victory on the cross. He is your advocate, your healer, and your peace.

**Prayer:**
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up our brother/sister who is weary and overwhelmed. Lord, You know the depths of their struggles—the fear of not being able to breathe, the frustration of medical neglect, the financial strain, and the emotional toll of it all. We ask You to intervene supernaturally in every detail.

For the COPD inhaler: Lord, expose every error and delay. Convict the hearts of those responsible to act with urgency and accuracy. Let no red tape or miscommunication stand in the way of this life-saving medication. Provide the inhaler swiftly, and let it work effectively in their body to bring relief and stability.

For the CAT scan results and potential specialist referrals: Grant their pulmonologist wisdom and clarity. If further care is needed, open doors for prompt appointments with godly, skilled specialists. Let every calcification, every risk factor, be met with Your healing hand. Protect their heart and thyroid, and guide the doctors to the right course of action.

For the neurologist and upcoming treatments: Lord, break through the delays. If insurance coverage is at risk, soften the hearts of those in authority to approve these treatments in full. Let the doctors be united in diagnosis and effective in treatment. Remove all doubt and replace it with confidence in Your provision.

For their mental and emotional state: Father, lift the heaviness. Replace despair with hope, anxiety with peace, and exhaustion with Your strength. Remind them that they are not fighting alone—You are their ever-present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). Surround them with Your love and the support of Your people.

For their financial burdens: You are Jehovah Jireh, the Lord who provides. We ask You to meet every need, whether through unexpected provision, reduced costs, or creative solutions. Let them not fear lack, for You own all things and delight in caring for Your children.

Lord, we rebuke the spirit of hopelessness and the lies that say giving up is the only way out. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, who is their Comforter and Counselor. Renew their mind with Your truth: that their life is precious to You, that their suffering is not in vain, and that You are working all things together for their good (Romans 8:28).

We thank You, Father, for hearing our prayers. We trust in Your timing, Your power, and Your love. May Your will be done in their life, and may they experience Your peace that surpasses all understanding. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Healer and Redeemer, we pray. Amen.
